Join Visa and do work that matters — to you, to your community, and to the world. Progress starts with you. Job Description Job Description: The Director, Fintech Partnerships and Ventures is a transversal, enterprise-wide role responsible for engaging the startup and fintech ecosystem, identifying strategic opportunities, and defining clear, testable hypotheses aligned with Visa’s long term platform vision. This role acts as the front line of engagement with the innovation ecosystem, navigating across Products, Sales, CMS, Tech Enablers, VCA, and external partners to connect signals and determine where Visa should experiment and why. The work includes deep sector research, proactive sourcing, and involving relevant stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment. The role requires an ambitious payments professional with product and commercial acumen and interest, strong communication and analytical skills, and ability to work independently to drive forward priority initiatives. Essential Functions: Develop high‑conviction, thesis‑driven fintech sourcing strategies aligned to Visa’s strategic imperatives and priority growth areas (e.g. agentic commerce, cross‑border payments, B2B payments). Build structured market landscapes and sourcing frameworks to proactively identify and engage category‑leading companies, independent of downstream execution. Act as the enterprise entry point to the startup and fintech ecosystem, proactively engaging with partners, VCs, and market signals. Cultivate strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including VC firms and intermediaries to ensure differentiated top of the funnel sourcing ideas and access to competitive investment rounds. Be an ambassador for Visa Ventures at external conferences and networking events. Lead enterprise-wide opportunity hunting, unconstrained by product lines or specific execution programs. Navigate across Product teams (CMS, VAS), Sales, Tech Enablers, and VCA to synthesize insights and define strategic direction. Evaluate opportunities against strategic priorities to determine whether they should inform strategy, advance into experimentation, or transition into the Tech Enablers / Hyperscale Factory for POC and pilot execution. Act as the strategic control point during proof‑of‑concept execution, ensuring initiatives remain aligned with approved strategic intent. Partner with other strategic partners to evaluate outcomes and jointly determine whether initiatives should be accelerated, iterated, or deprioritized. For initiatives approved to scale, lead strategic and equity investment assessments, including development of executive‑level business cases and delivery of data‑driven recommendations to senior Visa executives. Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the investment sponsor during deal negotiations and as the primary liaison with Global Ventures teams. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD). Clear communicator with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of investment materials Proven experience in negotiating deal documents. Deep understanding of the Fintech, platforms, and Payments stack.
