Description
Prepare and review monthly account closing procedures, and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and controls. Ensure all fund expenses are accrued timely and in accordance with GAAP. Prepare and review investor allocations, accounting journal entries related to standard accruals, management and incentive fees, deferred compensation payables, derivative contract financing, and broker financing. Ensure monthly valuations are reviewed and approved prior to distribution to clients, and reviewed and approved by clients prior to investor distribution. Collaborate with client conversion teams for new client set up and accounting conversion implementation. Prepare and review position and cash reconciliations between clients and their custodians. Coordinate year-end audits with client and independent authors. Prepare and review draft annual financial statements. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as an Associate, Analyst, or a closely related occupation. Employer will accept pre- or post-bachelor's experience. Requires five (5) years of experience with: cultivating and maintaining client relationships; accounting concepts including management fee and performance fee structures; hedge fund products and accounting treatment of various asset classes including equities, derivatives, fixed income, and alternative investments; working with auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards; driving process improvements; liaising with product development teams to eliminate application deficiencies and implement automation; negotiating terms and resolving conflicts; presenting key data to clients, and internal and external stakeholders. Requires two (2) years of experience with: hedge fund specific accounting practices including capital calls and distributions; financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to hedge funds including 13-F, Annex IV, Form PF, and PQR.
