Role Summary RestoringVision is entering a critical phase of scaling global impact through government systems and multilateral engagement. Achieving sustainable reach at scale requires embedding vision solutions into public health systems, strengthening policy alignment, and unlocking financing through governments and global institutions. The Director, Global Government & Multilateral Affairs will serve as the strategic and execution engine behind this effort—translating high-level access and relationships into country-level pilots, policy commitments, and funding pathways. This role partners closely with the Chief Global Affairs Officer to ensure that global advocacy, government engagement, and multilateral positioning deliver measurable outcomes. Strategic Purpose of the Role * Drive scaling through government systems * Strengthen UN and multilateral positioning * Convert political interest into tangible commitments and financing * Support Global Summit for Eye Health follow-through * Reduce execution and reputational risk in complex political environments [As outlined in the role justification, without this capacity, engagement risks becoming episodic, slowing scale and increasing missed opportunities.] Key Responsibilities 1. Political Economy & Global Analysis (25%) * Conduct country-level political economy analysis across priority markets * Track global health policy trends and multilateral agendas * Provide strategic insights to inform engagement decisions 2. Global Government Engagement Strategy (20%) * Design and maintain a living global government engagement strategy * Identify priority countries, entry points, and pathways to scale * Align strategy with fundraising and programmatic goals 3. Country Engagement Execution (20%) * Develop and implement country-specific engagement plans * Support bilateral engagement with ministries and public agencies * Ensure follow-through on commitments, pilots, and partnerships 4. Multilateral Engagement (15%) * Support engagement with: * United Nations processes (e.g., HLPF) * WHO and World Bank * Key global health forums * Draft concept notes, policy inputs, and negotiated text 5. Strategic Communications & Briefings (10%) * Develop high-level: * Briefing materials * Talking points * Stakeholder maps * Prepare senior leadership for diplomatic engagements 6. Tracking & Continuity (5%) * Track commitments, engagements, and follow-up actions * Maintain institutional memory and engagement pipelines 7. Advisory Support (5%) * Provide light advisory input on: * Policy positioning * Partnership frameworks * (Legal background advantageous but not required) Qualifications Required * 10–15 years of experience in: * Government affairs, diplomacy, or multilateral engagement * Deep understanding of: * UN system and global health architecture * Demonstrated experience: * Drafting policy, strategy, or negotiated text * Managing complex, multi-stakeholder environments * Strong political judgment and discretion * Exceptional analytical, writing, and briefing skills * Ability to operate independently in high-stakes environments Preferred * Experience in global health, development, or public systems * Experience working across Africa, India, or other LMIC contexts * Legal or policy background
