The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a Director Group Accounting and Reporting based in our Sydney Head Office. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the global accounting and reporting function, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement across statutory, management, and corporate accounting processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead monthly group consolidation and management reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with global accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Oversee and drive completion of statutory and Board reporting at half and full year, coordinating inputs across Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and People & Culture.
  • Manage corporate transactional accounting including Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Sharebased payments and Intercompany.
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems and processes to enhance reporting efficiency and control.
  • Own global finance policies and the Global Chart of Accounts, ensuring governance and compliance.
  • Provide accounting guidance for material transactions, new investments, and acquisitions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering engagement, capability development, and cross-functional collaboration.

About You
To add value to Cochlear in this role, you’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • CPA or CA qualification with 10+ years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in listed company reporting and statutory accounts preparation
  • Proven success in multinational group reporting and multicurrency consolidations
  • Strong ERP system experience (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Hyperion/HFM)
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to lead transformational initiatives and process improvements

Desired:

  • Experience in transformational activity
  • Background in Big 4 or second-tier audit firms
  • Experience in Med-tech industry and/or manufacturing industry
