ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a transformational leader to lead the operations of our Calgary Group Disability office. This role combines day-to-day operational excellence with the mandate to lead innovation and drive operational excellence for our disability business. As talent, technology, and client expectations rapidly evolve, we need a leader who can execute today while building for tomorrow.
You will play a key role in delivering disability performance, enhancing client satisfaction, and building a high performance team through accountability, empowerment and engagement - while shaping a best-in-class, future-ready team. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Lead Strategic Transformation

  • Drive change to modernize our operations, adopting digital tools, automation, and data insights.
  • Innovate how we manage claims, engage clients, and support plan members.
  • Align the Calgary office with Sun Life’s national disability strategy.

Ensure Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all aspects of disability operations (STD, LTD, ECI/ Salary Continuance) with a focus on quality, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Optimize return to work outcomes in safe, sustainable and timely ways.
  • Optimize team capacity while maintaining even workload distribution.
  • Meet or exceed service-level agreements and internal quality benchmarks.

Elevate Client Experience

  • Partner with Business Development to solve client issues and strengthen relationships.
  • Drive improved client satisfaction scores and contribute to sales efforts as needed.
  • Represent Sun Life externally at client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Develop Talent & Culture

  • Build a high performing, engaged team and identify future leaders.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with partners in BD, IT, HR, Risk, and Legal to deliver on business goals.
