Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ainsworth is committed to meeting or exceeding all applicable Safety and Environmental regulations and developing and maintaining a World Class Safety culture to achieve an accident free work environment. This position oversees both the implementation of Company Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) management systems, Fleet Management and the approach for how the Company’s management systems will be executed within the facilities. The incumbent provides leadership and administration to the overall HSE program by developing an annual plan, achieving consensus and buy-in from site leadership and driving the implementation of and monitoring progress against the plan and corresponding objectives.
The role will also be accountable for developing, implementing and monitoring fleet management, maintenance and disposition programs in order to keep Ainsworth vehicles in compliance with Ainsworth’s and Provincial and Federal standards and legislation requirements at the lowest, safe and sustainable, cost.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in Business, Science or Engineering a plus
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Strategic health & safety and fleet management in a leadership capacity.
- Post-secondary education – Diploma or Degree in a program relating to safety preferred, CRSP or NCSO designation a definite asset.
- Knowledge about Highway Traffic and Safety Act, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations and how it affects a national logistics network
- Must have knowledge of vehicle fleet and drivers’ technologies and trends
- A high degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues
- Understand issues that drive the business and how to effectively support the business to enhance growth
- Proven ability to excel at strategic thinking and planning as well as tactical implementation
- Industry experience and a demonstrated track record in continuous improvement within an integrated Health & Safety function, including superior technical knowledge fleet, drivers and H&S in transportation
