Description Job Title: Director – PDR Department: OPS Reports to: Business Unit Leader Division: Health Care FLSA Classification: Exempt Date: September 2025 Salary Range: Position Overview: The Director (PDR) provides executive oversight and leadership for the Healthcare Business Unit portfolio of work. The Director ensures that projects align with company standards for safety, quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance. Acting as a senior leader, the Director mentors project management staff, manages client relationships, and drives process improvement, innovation, and long-term growth of the business unit. They serve as a cornerstone of strategic implementation and oversight—coaching teams, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and professional growth, and driving organizational success by maintaining command of an entire portfolio through effective delegation and accountable reporting. The Director is also willing and able to engage at a detailed level when needed to ensure excellence and alignment. In the healthcare market, this includes navigating regulatory requirements, ensuring life safety compliance, and timely delivery of complex medical facility projects with minimal disruption to patient care. Key Responsibilities: Preconstruction: Oversee and engages in constructability reviews, early planning, and project pursuits. Emphasize phasing, infection control risk assessment (ICRA), and compliance with AHJ requirements. Guides estimating teams in aligning budgets with project scope and company strategy. Ensure internal processes are executed consistently and effectively. Provide executive-level oversight of subcontractor engagement and buyouts. Build and maintain relationships with key subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners. Support negotiation of trade partner and vendor agreements. Project Planning & Management: Oversee project execution plans and ensure resources are aligned with Business Unit strategy. Ensure proper planning for occupied healthcare facilities and integration with medical operations. Provide guidance to PEs, PMs and SPMs on project startup, risk management, and logistics. Support project teams with executive-level decision making. Schedule Management: Ensure project schedules are realistic and aligned with contractual commitments, with schedules reflecting hospital or clinical downtime requirements and operational restrictions. Review critical path risks across portfolio and guide pull planning and recovery planning. Support teams with executive presence in owner discussions on scheduling. Contract Management: Oversee owner contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements. Ensure contracts reflect obligations required to meet healthcare standards and requirements. Negotiate high-stakes or complex contractual terms. Mitigate contractual risks and support dispute resolution as needed. Financial Management: Own financial performance of assigned portfolio. Monitor forecasts, budgets, and profitability across projects. Ensure accurate reporting and timely corrective actions. Technology, Education & Process Implementation: Champion adoption of project management technologies and reporting tools. Drive implementation of consistent processes across Business Unit projects. Lead continuous improvement initiatives in delivery efficiency. Safety: Reinforce safety culture by holding teams accountable to KPIs. Actively participate in safety audits, reviews, and training sessions. Model leadership in promoting a 100% Compliance mindset. Client Development & Retention: Serve as executive sponsor for key client relationships. Build long-term relationships with healthcare clients, aligning with operational goals and patient-centric values. Support pursuits, proposals, and interviews with high-value clients. Conduct post-project reviews to ensure client satisfaction and repeat work. Soft Skills & Leadership: Inspire and motivate teams with clear vision and leadership. Mentor and monitor PMs, SPMs, and engineers in their growth and development; build a pipeline of future leaders. Navigate high-stakes discussions with diplomacy and professionalism. Foster collaboration, accountability, and a high-performance culture. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Portfolio delivered within safety, quality, and financial targets. Healthcare Compliance: % adherence to healthcare standards and requirements across portfolio. Minimal Disruption: % of projects completed without disruption to patient care or operations. % of projects meeting schedule milestones. Client satisfaction and repeat business metrics. Accuracy of financial forecasting across portfolio. Documented development of project management staff. Implementation of process improvements and innovations. Positive engagement scores and low turnover on teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Experience leading construction of hospitals or healthcare facilities. Familiarity with healthcare construction regulations required. 12–15+ years of progressive project management experience. Demonstrated success leading large-scale projects and portfolios. Strong contract negotiation and financial management skills. Proven ability to manage client relationships at the executive level. Proficiency in project management and financial systems. Strong leadership presence, communication, and mentorship skills. Work Environment: Combination of office and site visits across multiple projects. Frequent interaction with executives, clients, and project teams. Physical Abilities: Sit or stand for most of a typical workday. Maneuver between floors of the office Lift and move up to 25 pounds.
