Job Title Director, Individual Retirement Income Job Description The Role The vison of Pacific Life Re’s Savings & Retirement function is to be Partnering with our clients globally to provide stability and confidence in retirement. We are looking to hire a talented Director, Individual Retirement Income, Savings & Retirement who will take a leading role in implementing our strategy to support this vision and building on our recent entry to the Australian retirement income market. The role will include a wider remit to support other global core markets. The successful candidate will be accountable for the proposition development, sales, client relationships, structuring and execution of transactions in the individual Australian retirement income market. This will include bringing scalable global propositions to the Australian Market, included funded and longevity flow reinsurance. As a member of the wider Savings and Retirement community the incumbent is expected to help promote a culture across Savings & Retirements consistent with the Pacific Life Re target culture and consistent with the company’s Principles and Behaviours. Key Responsibilities Duties Be responsible for continuing to develop, communicate, and executing our new business and client strategy for individual retirement income markets. Main focus will be on the Australian market with a wider remit to support on other global core markets Develop and maintain relationships at a senior level with our clients, superannuation funds, consultants, regulators, industry working groups, and other key parties within the Australian retirement market. Represent our Australian offering by presenting at industry conferences and producing thought leadership to enhance our profile and influence in the market. Engage with the Protection Business to ensure a consistent Pacific Life Re client relationship strategy and external message. Develop, manage and secure new business opportunities (longevity only and/or funded), to deliver timely, high-quality responses to client invitations to tender, meeting internal risk management standards. Additionally, lead the operationalisation of flow S&R transactions and oversee the ongoing management of in-force treaties. To achieve the above build strong working relationships with wider S&R functions (Insurance and Deal Pricing, Strategy and Client solutions). Support the development of innovative new retirement income propositions for global core markets, leveraging global S&R and Pacific Life capabilities and technology. This will include maintaining key relationships across PL Re and PL Institutional and consumer divisions. Lead transaction negotiations and deal structuring in collaboration with internal and external legal counsel, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Manage and develop direct report(s), including objective setting, driving performance and accountability and mentoring/coaching. Additionally provide functional leadership to broader individual retirement income and S&R teams as appropriate including influencing priorities, fostering collaboration, and sharing expertise where appropriate. Qualifications & Expertise At least 5 years’ experience in operating in (re)insurance including time in market facing and technical roles – experience in the Australian market would be preferred. Experience in and understanding of retirement markets including Longevity, asset-intensive and individual annuities. Experience of new business development and transaction negotiation Deep understanding of the technical basis of reinsurance business, with a proven ability to understand and question pricing and / or capital bases. Knowledge of the local regulatory environment is preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills with people of all levels. Strong negotiator and influencer. Strong organisational skills and good evidence of successful project management In depth understanding of risk frameworks and controls. Highly financially literate and can understand reinsurance pricing, financial reporting and capital to a high level of detail.
