Description

Basic Function of the Position:
Support CTA’s industry and public affairs efforts, with a focus on proactive industry storytelling, stakeholder influence, and media engagement. In addition to elevating priority tech industry initiatives, this role integrates CTA’s health portfolio priorities into broader consumer technology narratives, enhancing the organization’s position as a thought leader at the intersection of technology, innovation, and public policy.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years progressive experience working in communications or public relations with a focus on public affairs and policy-related programs and campaigns.
  • Experience working on Capitol Hill, with members’ congressional staff or within the legislative/regulatory space; strong consideration given to those with health and/or tech policy background.
  • Experience or established relationships with health media or trade press is a significant plus, though not required.
  • At least two years in a management environment, including management of high-priority projects and overseeing a program budget.
  • Strong understanding of communications and policy strategies and tactics.
  • Experience developing communications strategy.
  • Private-sector experience involving client management preferred.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in marketing, communications, political science, political management or related field strongly preferred or commensurate experience.

SKILLS/CAPABILITIES/TECHNICAL:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Proficiency in various online applications and public engagement tools.
  • Experienced in management and budgeting.
  • Excellent writer and comfortable public speaker.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate across departments—Government Affairs, Membership, and Market Research—to develop and execute integrated communications strategies that elevate CTA’s initiatives, including campaigns, grassroots mobilization, and coalition engagement.
  • Design and implement traditional and digital media strategies that build visibility and public understanding of CTA’s industry priorities, including health tech innovation and regulatory issues; act as a primary media contact for related communications.
  • Lead cross-departmental teams and manage multi-faceted projects, national and international, and campaigns supporting various CTA industry priority issues.
  • Support the Communications Department’s rapid response capabilities including providing strategic counsel, developing messaging, engaging media, securing, and tracking earned media coverage for CTA issues.
  • Understand and support, as needed, the communications activities of CTA member groups and policy committees overseen by this position’s direct reports—including messaging, strategy, and execution—as part of CTA’s broader communications framework.
  • Mange two direct reports, each overseeing sustainability and mobility initiatives and AI initiatives, respectively.
  • Recruit and engage media to participate in CES and CES health-related programs including: the Innovation Policy Summit, the Leaders In Technology Program, and Digital Health Summit.
  • Support overall CES media recruitment and engagement as needed, leading up to and during CES.
  • Seek and embrace technical and professional educational opportunities by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, identifying best practices, etc.
