SKILLS YOU BRING
- This position requires the incumbent to have a Degree in Information Systems and Business Administration or related disciplines with 10 years of experience. Incumbents with similar educational backgrounds and professional experience may be considered.
- Certification in IT Service Management (ITSM) is an asset.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership for the Corporation’s technology infrastructure, encompassing on premises and cloud environments. The role ensures that all infrastructure systems are designed, implemented, and operated securely, efficiently, and reliably to support CDIC’s strategic objectives.
As a Director, you will be responsible for developing strategies and operational plans to maintain robust, scalable, and secure IT services while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements. The incumbent leads IT operations, infrastructure management, and service delivery functions while aligning with organizational priorities and maintaining the ability to transition into a crisis intervention mode when required.
This role can be performed from our Ottawa or Toronto offices, following a hybrid model approach. This is a full-time permanent opportunity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE
- Strategic Technology Planning: Develop and implement strategic IT plans that anticipate the organization’s evolving needs, incorporating emerging technologies and innovations while ensuring robust cybersecurity governance. This includes the identification of security gaps and opportunities for optimization in the IS and GRC functions.
- Cyber Security: Although not directly responsible for cybersecurity, the Director of Information Technology ensures security best practices are incorporated into all technology initiatives. The incumbent collaborates closely with the Director of Cybersecurity to align security priorities with the Corporate Applications and Data Services directors to deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure, service desk and operations. Ensure effective resource allocation to support ongoing operations and mitigate against cyber threats.
- Intervention Mode Preparedness: Ensure that CDIC’s IT infrastructure is scalable and capable of responding rapidly in intervention scenarios, including setting up temporary operations and ensuring the integrity and availability of IT infrastructure during crises.
- Resource and Vendor Management: Manage critical vendor relationships to ensure CDIC has timely access to the necessary technology resources and expertise, especially for crisis intervention and contingency planning.
- Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and proactive cybersecurity practices.
