Reporting to the Senior Director, Integrated Emergency Health Services, the Director, Integrated Air Program, you will primarily be responsible to set the strategic direction and provide senior level leadership for the operations and human resources needs of the Integrated Air Ambulance Service. Your mission will be to maintain the overall operational status of the air ambulance service while meeting or exceeding customer/patient expectations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategic Business Plans for the integration of the Air Ambulance Service
  • Establish service direction and ensure that customer/patient service is a priority by developing an issue resolution process.
  • Assist Human Resources in the recruitment and selection process for the Air Ambulance staff. Develop and manage the Air Ambulance team.
  • Act as a liaison and build stakeholder relationships with indigenous groups serviced by the program
  • Ensure compliance with the commercial contract
  • Monitor key performance indicators
  • Liaise with the contracted Air Operations vendors to ensure contract compliance
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and oversee various contracts and consult with the regional health authorities, physicians and other medical care providers and stakeholders.

Professional Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Three or more years in a senior leadership position, in EMS management.
  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a registered nurse or an Advanced Care Paramedic with a minimum of two years of experience in a flight position a strong preference.
  • Knowledge and/or expertise in EMS management, information technology, finance, and human resources.
  • Solid managerial/supervisory experience and formal business training an asset.
  • Excellent Leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational abilities required.
  • Sound business judgment and be able to think strategically in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a management team.
  • Aptitude for negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Leads team members by example and practices time management.
  • Proficient computer literacy and the ability to create and edit various reports, presentations, and databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.
