The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, the Director, IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WAA’s IT infrastructure and cybersecurity programs. This role plays a key leadership function in shaping enterprise-wide digital resiliency, ensuring the IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategies directly support WAA’s long-term operational and strategic goals.
The Director is accountable for the stability, integrity and security of WAA’s technology ecosystem. This includes oversight of IT infrastructure operations (network, server, cloud, and telecommunications), cybersecurity governance, risk management, and service delivery. The role collaborates closely with executive leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between IT capabilities and business goals. A key focus of the role is developing a high performance, collaborative team and a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and accountability. The Director also represents WAA in industry forums and builds partnerships with vendors, peer airports, and regulatory bodies to advance organizational maturity and influence in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity domains.

Responsibilities
  • Design long-term IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategies aligned with WAA’s digital vision
  • Support the Vice-President, Information Technology in the identification and execution of the IT strategic priorities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of corporate business initiatives
  • Develop business strategies and plans to drive improvements to departmental efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers in client/tenant organizations to foster good working relationships and an understanding of airport issues
  • Partner cross-functionally with all WAA departments to implement technology-enabled business solutions
  • Lead regulatory research, technology evaluations, and roadmap development
  • Integrate enterprise risk and audit findings into strategy
  • Oversee and support execution and optimization of enterprise-wide IT infrastructure and cybersecurity projects
  • Direct the design, development, and management of LAN, WAN, wireless, cloud, and virtual environments
  • Establish IT infrastructure and cybersecurity standards with stakeholders
  • Own risk registers for both domains; ensure alignment with business continuity and disaster recovery strategies
  • Enforce and otherwise ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including PCI, privacy, and aviation-specific mandates
  • Oversee implementation of NIST and ISO 27001-aligned frameworks
  • Assume the responsibility of business system owner for relevant software systems
  • Coordinate and manage resources for day-to-day activities across both domains
  • Provide guidance and leadership to staff, senior leaders, and consultants on matters relating to IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity
  • Support the Service Desk and oversee incident escalation processes
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Lead performance testing, data analysis, and reliability planning
  • Establish and monitor KPIs (uptime, SLA attainment, incident response, stakeholder satisfaction)
  • Develop service-level deliverables for the department and create and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate performance to customers
  • Establish KPIs and service level agreements with internal business partners
  • Track and enforce service level standards and key performance indicators related to relevant external service providers
  • Consult with auditors and IT service providers
  • Responsible for the financial management of the department, including preparation of the departmental budget and ongoing monthly monitoring of costs
  • Lead procurement for IT infrastructure and cybersecurity technologies
  • Negotiate and maintain relevant IT licenses and contract
