Job Details Job Location: Lawrence, KS 66045 Position Summary: The Director – Jayhawk Community Partners leads the University of Kansas’ corporate partnerships and sponsorships program. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Jayhawk Community Partners LLC. The Director will drive revenue, create new assets and provide support to a group of diverse departments that provide services to faculty, staff, students and members of the public. Collaborates and works closely, Kansas Athletics Inc. (KAI), the University of Kansas Alumni (KUA), Kansas Memorial Unions, KU Endowment, The University of Kansas Medical Center and The Gateway District (amongst other KU entities). Takes a strong leadership role in transformation efforts, particularly the campus's strategic focus on revenue generating activity. Undertakes a variety of cross-organizational projects, working in concert with other leaders at the campus, system-wide and nationally. Responsibilities of this Position: Lead Jayhawk Community Partners (JCP) revenue generation efforts; Fully establish and provide strategic direction as an integration with the Gateway Operator, Kansas Memorial Corporation, and other University partners; Negotiates and directs agreements with outside entities and other institutions; Develops partnerships with strategic customers that are appropriately aligned with the university's mission; creates new ways of doing business; Makes long-term strategic decisions that reflect upon the campus as a whole and protect and enhance the campus environment and community; Interacts with senior management on various negotiations; works closely with Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Director of KU Memorial Union, Chief Procurement Officer and Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs; Establishes direction, policies and procedures for JCP. Promotes a customer and service focus; Creates, develops, implements and executes University wide sponsorships and new revenue generating or value-in-kind programs and/or partnership that provide financial or asset benefits; Works closely with multi-media rights and sponsorship staff of Kansas Athletics and KUA; ensures there is mutual benefit for all three parties by working to provide new revenue sources and not allowing any attrition of existing books of business; Manages, oversees and evaluates full-time staff members that are helping to drive new revenue from University-wide sponsorship, and new programs and/or partnerships that provide financial or asset benefits; Oversees significant financial resources. Assure productivity and resource generation are utilized to the organization's and University's best advantage; Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or their designee. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business from an accredited college or university; Minimum of 3 to 5 years related work experience in advertising, sponsorship sales, or corporate partnerships; Knowledge of and competency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Outlook, Access, Excel and PowerPoint, SponsorCx, Digideck); Strong skills and demonstrated experience in developing and negotiating external partnerships that support revenue generation; Highly sophisticated skills in strategy development, systems planning and change management; Proven record of achieving successful outcomes to complex organizational challenges; including experience transforming organizations and re-engineering major processes; Ability and desire to promote people, focus on customers, and provide excellent service; Ability to establish mission and goals at the macro-level; to lead subordinate management to develop goals in alignment with mission; Expert leadership abilities to lead, motivate, and influence others, and ability to establish campus and department goals, and to motivate and influence others to achieve; Ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals which measure effectiveness of contributions to efficient operations of department; Expert project management skills with ability to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skilled in conflict management techniques; Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll; Demonstrated experience managing significant, complex operating budgets and financial resources; Experience managing self-supporting/recharge operations. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with established local or regional relationships and knowledge of the local market, businesses, and community stakeholders. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to: cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices.
