This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Literacy based in the United States. This senior leadership role is dedicated to advancing high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction and improving educational outcomes for K–12 students. The position combines strategic leadership, literacy expertise, and project management to design and deliver impactful initiatives that support educators, school systems, and education leaders. Working within a collaborative and fully remote environment, the role partners with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions grounded in research and classroom practice. It also serves as a key representative in the education community, contributing thought leadership through presentations, partnerships, and professional engagement. Success in this role requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution while fostering equitable learning opportunities across diverse educational settings. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced literacy leader who is passionate about instructional excellence, systems-level change, and meaningful educational impact. \n Accountabilities: Lead the development and execution of strategic literacy initiatives that align with organizational priorities and improve instructional outcomes. Oversee multiple complex projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Provide subject matter expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction, curriculum, pedagogy, and systems-level educational leadership. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design equitable, research-informed solutions that address educational challenges. Build and maintain relationships with education leaders, districts, and partner organizations to support high-impact initiatives. Represent the organization through speaking engagements, publications, presentations, and thought leadership activities. Contribute to organizational planning, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across teams. Depending on organizational needs, lead people management, partnership development, internal initiatives, program inquiry, or strategic implementation efforts. Requirements: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Education, Curriculum, Literacy, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience in elementary or secondary literacy instruction. At least 3 years of experience leading district-level, systems-level, or large-scale educational initiatives. Deep expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction and a strong commitment to equitable educational opportunities. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging educators, administrators, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional, and project-based environments. Willingness to travel approximately 15–20% annually for meetings, conferences, and partner engagement.
