Description:
SUMMARY:
The Director, Manufacturing oversees Norseman’s manufacturing operations, property management, quality assurance, and supply chain functions. This role drives strategic and operational excellence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards. The position ensures the alignment of manufacturing goals with company objectives to meet customer expectations and achieve business success.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Management and Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term manufacturing strategies to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Oversee end-to-end plant operations, ensuring high productivity and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and ensure project success.
- Drive key performance indicators (KPIs) for on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
Plant Management
- Oversee plant operations, ensuring efficient workflows, high productivity, and operational safety.
- Develop and manage master production schedules to meet manufacturing targets and deadlines.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and optimize processes.
- Ensure equipment reliability and compliance through effective maintenance programs.
- Monitor plant performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed
Supply Chain Management
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and optimize inventory management.
- Strengthen vendor and contractor relationships to support high-quality, cost-effective, and timely deliverables.
- Develop strategies to evaluate and improve supplier performance, ensuring alignment with Norseman standards.
- Oversee supply chain forecasting and planning to ensure seamless material flow and reduce disruptions.
Quality Management
- Track, analyze, and communicate quality metrics for both manufacturing and construction operations.
- Implement and maintain core quality programs to ensure products meet or exceed contractual and industry standards.
- Conduct internal and vendor quality audits, ensuring compliance with A660, AWS, and CWB standards.
- Liaise with internal and external agencies to meet reporting and compliance requirements.
- Respond to customer requests for quality-related reports and ensure positive perceptions of Norseman’s quality programs.
- Train staff on quality control processes to address and resolve quality issues proactively.
Culture and People Leadership
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork throughout the organization.
- Mentor and coach manufacturing and quality teams to drive professional development and high performance.
- Establish performance goals and conduct regular reviews to support employee growth and accountability.
- Promote strong internal communication and collaboration to align teams with organizational objectives.
Operational and Financial
- Oversee manufacturing budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure (CapEx) planning.
- Align financial and operational strategies to achieve cost efficiencies and support growth.
- Monitor and improve cost performance through effective resource management and waste reduction.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and operational excellence.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reduce operational challenges.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Leadership
- Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks to create a safe and secure working environment.
- Promote a safety-first culture across all plant operations and quality functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, with a proven track record in strategic planning, plant management, and supply chain optimization.
- Expertise in quality assurance standards (e.g., A660, AWS, CWB) and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and CapEx.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
