Description
Job Description Summary: In Japan, one of our most dynamic and innovative markets, we are accelerating our marketing transformation to meet rapidly changing consumer expectations and marketplace realities. Our goal is to build a future‑ready marketing organization—creative, digitally fluent, commercially grounded, and empowered to lead with data‑driven insights and powerful brand storytelling. The Director, Marketing Capability & Transformation is a strategic leadership role that drives this ambition. You will design and implement the capability vision, roadmap, and learning strategy that ensures our marketing teams across Japan cultivate the skills, tools, and mindsets required to compete and grow in a modern, tech‑enabled environment. You will work closely with global networks, regional partners, bottlers, and cross‑functional teams to embed world‑class capability building, agile ways of working, and a culture of continuous learning. This role is ideal for a seasoned marketing leader who thrives in transformation environments, champions innovation, and is passionate about building people and organizational capability. What You’ll Do for Us Lead the development and execution of a long‑term capability vision, roadmap, and learning curriculum that accelerates marketing transformation across Japan. Establish a foundational “core curriculum” by evaluating current marketing capabilities, identifying gaps, and designing future‑focused learning pathways for talent at all levels. Partner with global teams and regional capability leaders to co‑create a unified capability plan that aligns with system priorities and strengthens Japan’s role within the global marketing network. Support the design and implementation of the marketing transformation agenda, including key initiatives, experimentation routines, agile practices, and cross‑functional rituals that unlock speed, creativity, and collaborative problem‑solving. Drive adoption of digital, data, and emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence and generative AI—to enhance productivity, insight generation, content development, and innovation processes. Create personalized, modern learning experiences that embrace blended modalities (in‑person, digital, social learning, coaching, and cohort programs) to meet the diverse needs of talent. Inspire a strong learning culture by championing curiosity, continuous upskilling, and shared learning across the marketing community and broader Coca‑Cola system. Embed rigorous measurement routines to track capability progress, marketing transformation KPIs, and learning effectiveness in collaboration with business, finance, and bottler partners. Facilitate partnerships with leading external experts, academic institutions, digital platforms, and innovation partners to bring cutting‑edge practices into the organization. Serve as a senior change leader who models new ways of working, facilitates intentional and inclusive team interactions, and cultivates an environment where learning, experimentation, and innovation thrive. Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to senior leaders, supporting Japan’s broader business strategy and talent development objectives. Ensure all capability initiatives are inclusive, culturally relevant, accessible, and aligned with the evolving needs of Japan’s marketplace and consumer landscape. Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. 10+ years of experience in marketing, capability development, innovation, transformation leadership, or related fields within complex, matrixed organizations. Demonstrated experience designing and leading capability programs or transformation initiatives in fast‑paced, highly collaborative environments. Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at senior levels and build trusted partnerships across global, regional, and local teams. Experience leading or working closely with Japan market teams, with deep understanding of local consumer culture, marketing practices, and ways of working. Fluency in English; proficiency in Japanese is highly beneficial to engage effectively across stakeholders. Strong commercial and financial acumen, with an ability to translate learning and capability building into measurable business impact. Advanced skills in project management, program design, and the orchestration of multiple workstreams in deadline‑driven contexts. Comfort with digital platforms, data tools, and emerging technologies; ability to champion the adoption of artificial intelligence and next‑generation marketing technologies. Exceptional communication, storytelling, and facilitation skills, with an ability to create compelling narratives that inspire action and alignment. Experience in agile team environments and familiarity with design thinking, scrum, or similar methodologies. Strong enterprise mindset with resilience, adaptability, and a demonstrated ability to lead through change. Passion for developing people, shaping organizational culture, and creating inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners and perspectives.
