The mission of the Innovation Lab is to increase the diagnostic yield of our exome and genome products and reduce the time to diagnosis for patients with an undiagnosed hereditary disease. SUMMARY:

We are seeking an accomplished and creative Director of Molecular Science to lead molecular research and innovation initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, execution, and strategic direction of molecular biology programs, including genomics, proteomics, gene editing, and biomarker discovery. The ideal candidate will bring deep scientific expertise, strong leadership, product development experience, and a passion for advancing molecular science and genomic testing.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in molecular research, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of scientific innovation, publications, and/or patents in molecular science.
  • Expertise in molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, NGS, gene editing, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., GLP, CLIA, FDA) is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate, lead, and manage molecular science research programs designed to improve diagnostic testing for rare diseases.
  • Oversee the design and execution of experiments involving DNA/RNA technologies, gene expression, CRISPR, sequencing, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Ensure scientific rigor, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including laboratory innovation, bioinformatics, translational genetics, biostatistics, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and product development.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging molecular technologies and platforms, including DNA/RNA sequencing, proteomics, functional genomics and cytogenetics.
  • Mentor and develop scientific staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Represent the organization in scientific forums and research collaborations.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for molecular science initiatives.
