(subject to review and approval) About the Role: The Work, Health and Safety Unit provides strategic leadership, advice and effective coordination and implementation of work health safety (WHS) management strategies, frameworks and activities. The unit provides WHS advisory and support services and oversees the implementation of systems and processes that assist Canberra Health Services (CHS) to become a safe and accountable healthcare environment. As the Director of Occupational Violence Prevention and Management, you will play a key role ensuring Canberra Health Services provides a safe working environment for staff, clients and others. You will lead on the development, consultation, and implementation of evidence-based Occupational Violence (OV) prevention and management projects and initiatives in alignment with the CHS OV Action Plan 2024-28. You will also manage end-to-end project lifecycles, oversee project reporting and drive change management and workforce engagement strategies to embed project outcomes and enhance organisational capability. You will also be responsible for the analysis of OV quality indicators (Safety, Effectiveness, and Patient-centred outcomes) to inform decisions, prioritise work, advance OV initiatives, and allocate finite resources. You will foster a positive workforce engagement and collaboration to enhance visibility of OV projects, advance OV initiatives and maintain positive reporting culture and ensure adherence to the OV procedure. The successful candidate will have proven experience in project governance, stakeholder engagement, and change management in a healthcare or similar environment. You will also have excellent stakeholder engagement skills to cultivate relationships across the organisation, along with strong analytical skills and knowledge of Occupational Violence risk factors and prevention strategies. Experience in WHS within a health care setting and tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Nursing, Psychology or Social Work will be highly regarded. A merit pool may be created from this recruitment process and remain valid for 12 months. This pool may be used to fill both permanent and temporary positions across CHS.
