Overview Salary Range: $122,196-$205,357 Position Summary The primary purposes of this position is: i. To execute the global Ocean Freight product and trade lane / network and procurement strategy (FCL & LCL) at Country Level ii. To execute the global Ocean Freight standards and guidelines at regional level Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Trade Lane / Network Management & Procurement (FCL and LCL) Execute VOC/NVOCC Carrier Policy/Strategy, including monitoring of adherence to Carrier Policy; Procure ‘best possible rate’ according to guidelines with Corporate Ocean Freight; Maintain and cultivate regular contacts with carriers and vendors at Country level; Report to the Head of Ocean Freight about meetings and agreements with defined carriers and vendors; Ensure that capacity agreements for FCL are maintained in the respective systems; Interface between Global Ocean Freight and Country Management in steering execution of Trade Lane Concept (incl. monitoring); Regular exchange with Global Ocean Freight on carrier policy incl. corrective actions; Monitor Inbound/Outbound volume development/trade lane aligned with target setting; Support implementation of EDI Interfaces and ocean freight IT applications; Prepare and manage all relevant product information needed by Regional Ocean Freight LCL to maintain data in Ocean Freight LCL product modules; Track Area procurement execution against plan with respect to volumes and carriers and initiate and track corrective actions as required; Provide input to Corporate Trade Lane / Network Management & Procurement Ocean on pricing analysis and support resolution of Country concerns (e.g. better pricing / selection of core carriers, co-loaders and strategic vendors); Create and maintain buying rate visibility. Support of Sales Functions Execute sales strategy jointly with Marketing & Sales to fulfill given growth targets; Support Marketing & Sales in creation of Target Lists and in Pricing Issues; Manage FCL Investment Policy (PAO Incentive System); Provide bid support to Regional Tender Management on buying rates, consolidation opportunities, and network constraints. Coordinate critical operational interventions, as directed by the Global Head of Systems and Processes, to secure short term stability of account. Ocean Freight Operational Delivery (in cooperation with the Country Head) Ocean Freight Standards & Governance Managers and in line with Global Guidelines and Standards; Provide feedback on procedures and give guidance to efficiently analyze and qualify potential improvement initiatives, driving timely implementation within the organization and monitoring adherence to implemented standards; Support the development of process guidelines and templates to assist implementation and adherence to processes; Monitor performance (sub-contractors, productivity, quality of service, data, incident mgmt) and initiate, implement and control corrective actions; Evaluate and monitor operational risks, ensure contingency planning, and implement corrective actions; Support implementation of EDI Interfaces and Ocean Freight LCL applications; Monitor execution of and compliance with LCL route network grid to/from worldwide CFS locations within defined scope of responsibility; Monitor development of payload utilization in existing CCS services (CBM/TEU and CBM/UNIT); Monitor compliance with government rules & regulations related to execution of NVOCC Carrier Strategy/Policy; Monitor compliance with reporting of volumes/statistics; Define, evaluate and monitor performance of booking staff; Drive continuous improvement of BU operations; Escalate quality / performance issues to Global Ocean Freight when necessary Function- / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Process working Advanced knowledge of the ocean freight industry Yusen strategy and products trends and opportunities Markets (customers, competitors, suppliers, overall environment) Procurement and capacity management for ocean freight, including service contracts Business administration Supplier management, NVOCC operations and applicable rules Knowledge of Country concerned, including knowledge of local suppliers local laws and regulations Knowledge of process engineering and improvement methodologies FMC rules and regulations Qualifications Minimum 5-10 years of industry experience either on the forwarder or carrier side Minimum 5 years of experience in people management and leadership, including recruitment, training & development, coaching, conflict and performance management Work experience in a global forwarding / logistics company Must be willing and able to travel approximately 30% of the time both domestic and International Skills & Competencies MUST BE ABLE TO plan strategically and translate strategy into operational roadmaps, deploying resources efficiently while pushing for results lead people, including hiring and retaining talent, directing reports, defining KPI's and monitoring performance work in teams organize, including prioritizing, planning, assigning and controlling objectives influence and negotiate communicate and network using advanced inter-personal skills analyze and conceptualize Is result oriented and places great emphasis on customer focus Is authentic, positive, honest and open Act as a role model for Corporate Values and fully adhere to the Code of Conduct The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed.
