Buckner Children and Family Services Community: Houston Family Hope Center Location: Houston TX - Onsite Address: 8600 Sweetwater Lane Houston, TX 77037 Job Schedule: Full-Time We are seeking a Director of Adult Empowerment & Economic Strengthening to join our team. , The Director of Adult Empowerment & Economic Strengthening serves in a strategic function at Buckner Children and Family Services as they are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and scaling the adult empowerment and economic strengthening strategy Responsibilities include oversight of financial‐literacy programs, employment and workforce readiness services, entrepreneurship micro‐enterprises, community partnership development, outcome measurement and continuous improvement. The role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create sustainable pathways for adult participants toward greater economic strength, self‐sufficiency, and family wellbeing. Join our team and shine hope in the lives of others! What you'll do: Develop and refine the strategic vision for adult empowerment & economic strengthening within Buckner’s programs. Align program strategy with Buckner’s mission, values (Faith, Integrity, Respect, Service, Teamwork) and the Family Hope Center® model. Design Adult programs such as financial education, job readiness, entrepreneurship, income generating activities using frameworks consistent with best practices, trauma informed care, and a strength-based approach. Ensure high quality delivery of services: for example, financial literacy classes, jobs workshops, business start-up support, and income generation initiatives. Use data, community needs assessments, and participant feedback to inform program design, scaling and continuous improvement. In collaboration with the BCFS Program Development and Design Team, ensure that all proposed design changes and model enhancements align with Buckner’s program design philosophy and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning standards. Oversee the operations of adult empowerment, workforce readiness, and economic strengthening services: budgeting, staffing, volunteer coordination, curriculum selection, scheduling. Support, provide guidance and serve as a resource to colleagues leading Fatherhood Effect programming or other programming related to this population in locations outside the assigned area. Collaborate with Directors and other program staff to integrate adult empowerment services with broader family strengthening services. Build and manage partnerships with community organizations, employers, training providers, financial institutions, faith-based partners and volunteers. Ensure compliance with funder/grant requirements, contractual obligations, and licensing/regulatory standards where applicable. In collaboration with the BCFS Program Development & Design Team, Develop, implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to adult empowerment, economic stability, participant progress, retention, and outcomes such as employment, income growth, savings, entrepreneurship or debt reduction. Provide and maintain reports, statistics, records and documentation of activities on a monthly basis or as required. This also includes completing audits for continuous quality improvement activities. Prepare and present regular reports to leadership, funders and stakeholders on program outcomes, trends and impact. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous learning aligned with Buckner’s standards. Ensure training, professional development and volunteer engagement are effective and aligned with program strategies. Represent Buckner in community forums, networks and partnerships relevant to economic mobility, workforce development and adult education. Stay current on research, trends and practices in adult empowerment, economic justice, workforce readiness and apply them to Buckner’s context. Advocate for vulnerable adults and families, bringing voice to those we serve. Engage diverse community audiences through effective public speaking and outreach to promote empowerment and economic development initiatives. Communicate with program staff to assess program needs. Report suspected child abuse/ neglect to DFPS Statewide Intake and appropriate law enforcement agencies. What you’ll bring: Requires an in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge normally associated with the attainment of a master’s degree. Bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred. Minimum five years related experience in leading programs, people, and resources in a social service field required. Ten years' experience in this area is preferred. Requires strong understanding of working with diverse, multi-ethnic populations of adults experiencing economic adversity and applying trauma-informed practices to promote resilience. Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English Requires knowledge and understanding of the legalities of child welfare and children in foster care. Requires the ability to demonstrate prudent judgment. Involves the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables. Require excellent public speaking skills and the ability to successfully and effectively communicate in a professional manner with a multi-ethnic population base in the community, ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Requires leadership characterized by servant leadership, integrity, and honesty. Must posses the ability to lead through influence. Requires ability to travel to various geographic locations and some overnight stays. Requires ability to obtain and maintain the necessary documentation to travel internationally. Requires jobholder to work before and after normal business hours, some nights and weekends, as needed to meet client and business needs including promptly responding to phone calls, text messages and emails. Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with an appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Requires the ability to rent vehicles both domestically and internationally using required documentation. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner. Requires ability to maintain confidentiality. Requires proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide-range of information. Requires in-depth ability to plan, administer, and report budgets. Requires proficient working knowledge of budgetary management and development of policies and procedures. Requires ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings, conferences, workshops, and retreats as required. Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer-related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required. Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings, so as to carry out tasks aligned with Buckner’s mission. Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects. Requires ability to walk frequently; occasionally stand for prolonged periods of time; occasionally required to squat, climb stairs, kneel and twist. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time, including extensive airline travel. Requires ability to speak clearly and make self-understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with extreme accuracy and precisions to give directions, speak on the phone, etc. Requires ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
