Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) is currently accepting applications for a Director of Athletics (AD), position starting July 1, 2026. The AD is the strategic leader of Athletics at LCA and is responsible for the daily operations and fiscal oversight of all Academy athletics. The AD manages the Athletic Department budget, as well as the hiring and daily oversight / supervision of coaches. The AD is a member of the school's administrative team and, as such, supports all academy programming, as well as Meadow Breeze Camps (MBC) in the summer months. RESPONSIBILITIES Administration & Management  * Develop, implement, and evaluate the Athletic program to reflect and reinforce LCA’s mission; make these programs key selling points / strengths of the school * Prepare, submit and oversee the annual athletics budget * Serve on the school’s team of Deans & Directors, contributing to coordination between departments and school leaders * Review applications which reflect a particular athletic strength or interest as a member of the Admissions team,  * In partnership with the Principal, hire, assign, evaluate and mentor all LCA coaches and athletic department employees * Develop a culture of sportsmanship, excellence, hard work, and teamwork * Manage athletics staff, including trainer(s) * Establish protocols to prioritize the health and safety of athletes * Revise and review, annually, the Athletics Handbook  * Collaborate with Facilities and Operations teams to maintain athletics grounds and facilities * Ensure adequate and equitable distribution of equipment resources and uniforms Programming * Develop and implement a comprehensive athletics plan for each season, including all scheduling, transportation and hiring of game officials for all matches and games * Ensure games held on site demonstrate LCA’s commitment to hospitality and effective organization * Plan and oversee fee-based summer athletics camps / programs in partnership with MBC * Plan physical education classes that encourage fitness for life * Collaborate with health professionals in creating wellness programs for employees and students Representation & Communication * Represent LCA at athletic events, award ceremonies, and various state, regional and national associations * Serve as liaison and contact with the parent community regarding athletics * Represent the athletic program and student athletes throughout the year to all faculty and staff, especially in the scholarship nomination process * Ensure accurate and timely communication of sports information (schedules, events, results & press releases) * Work closely and effectively with Communications to coordinate and execute all athletics communications QUALIFICATIONS * Passion for LCA’s mission * High integrity and role model * Embodies and communicates LCA’s mission and core values, and takes an active part in the full life of the school * Recognizes leadership potential and develops leadership in others as a “coach among coaches” * Inspires, motivates and gives constructive feedback * Sees the potential of athletics for the students and the school and communicates that vision * Communicates the program’s vision to all involved, representing the school and building excitement in the school community through effective stage presence * Shows passion for all sports and competition; understands the value and importance of athletics and teams * Jumps in wherever there’s a need * Handles scrutiny from parents and public with grace and resolve, reiterating athletic context and vision * Embodies an understanding of sports as fun and students as kids * Demonstrates proven success and experience in a prior Athletic office role, as well as team coaching experience * Bachelors' degree  DIRECT REPORTS * All coaches for all seasons * Athletic Trainer * Assistant Director of Athletics SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS This is a full-time, 12-month position. Includes weekend and evening commitments.
