Position Summary
The Autism Program Director manages the strategic and clinical operations of all aspects of the Center for Autism. The Program Director establishes program priorities, functions as the external representative of the program, collaborates with Fund Development in raising funds for the program and creates collaborative initiatives with other departmental leaders of Penn Highlands Connellsville
Duties and Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures development and proper execution and evaluation of both strategic and operational plans for all aspects of the program.
- Ensures the educational program maintains all necessary regulatory requirements, licensures, compliances and approvals from local, county and state regulatory entities; to include, but not limited to city, county and state Departments of Health, local, county and state fire regions, Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Establishes annual budgets (operational and capital) for the program and monitors regularly in collaboration with hospital Administration and Board of Directors
- Actively participates in fundraising activities for the Center for Autism.
- Supervises Speech Therapy, Coordinators, and other managerial personnel in the center.
- Establishes research agenda for the center in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic.
- Sets standards for program performance and creates systems to ensure that standards are adhered to and that program outcomes are achieved.
- Functions as a mentor for all center staff; sets standards and ensures that program values are adhered to.
- Understands standards imposed by regulatory bodies and ensures that such standards are addressed and adhered to.
- Participates in local, state and federal advocacy initiatives to the extent that time allows.
- Meeting all regulatory agencies guidelines and standards including Department of Health and OSHA.
- Policy development and implementation.
- Supervision of staff.
- Planning and scheduling work assignments with focus on adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
- Ensuring that all staff is properly oriented and trained.
- Budget development.
- Perform other related duties incidental to responsibilities above.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Masters or Doctorate in psychology, education, speech/language pathology, child development, medicine, or related field.
- Minimum five year’s experience conducting evaluations and interventions for children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis. Preference given to those with experience in a center-based program, program start-up, management and supervision and/or ABA certificate eligible
- Current Pennsylvania licensure in a clinical area required, speech language pathology, psychology or physician preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
