What you will do:

  • Be accountable for all aspects of facilities and environmental services including housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, safe and secure home, emergency procedures, fire and life safety, facilities management, bus fleet, property maintenance, landscape maintenance, and capital renewal for all of Delmanor Seniors Communities
  • Lead and oversee the successful opening and stabilization of new properties
  • Develop and implement both short-term and long-term strategies for facilities management and capital renovation / renewal projects, and building wide Information technology infrastructure
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of capital renovation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, conducting detailed walkthroughs, and overseeing quality control
  • Advises the business on technological advances in building maintenance processes and procedures
  • Review and create administrative programs and practices to leverage purchasing power and economies of scale, proactively determining strategies for the best long-term value.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations as set forth in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including health & safety regulations, WHMIS, TSSA, MSDS and AODA.
  • Conduct annual property review and vehicle insurance to mitigate risk in all Communities
  • Project management liaison with Tridel’s construction arm, Deltera for construction of new sites.
  • Budget planning for operational budgets.
  • Provide support to Environmental Managers in the areas of people management skills, and building and environmental technical knowledge, as well as purchasing & budget management
  • Suite turnovers, renovations, new property builds, and conversions of acquired buildings.
  • Provide 24/7 support to for large-scale building emergencies
  • Travels regularly to all Communities, which are currently within the Greater Toronto Area
  • Other duties as required

What you bring:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working within a Building Services management role.
  • Post-secondary Certificate, Diploma or Degree.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret the Building Code as it applies to construction projects such as fire protection and occupancy, safety and accessibility, structural design, heating ventilation, plumbing, elevators, renovations and electrical systems.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills
  • Experience maintaining and supporting well-utilized common areas such as in a hotel, Retirement Community, Long-term care facility, or hospital
  • Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience in managing people, including coaching and development of department managers
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale renovation projects and budgets
  • Highly proactive style of work, with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Yardi Maintenance or a similar system is an asset
