About This Opportunity We are hiring a Director of Business Development who will drive sales and scale consulting opportunities in our Climate & Carbon, Sustainability, and Water & Nature service areas. This is a director level, individual contributor role. This role collaborates with the group’s co-founders, technical experts, and customer success team in addition to key teams within Cascade Energy to prospect and build strong relationships with clients, determine customer needs, develop quotes and proposals for services, close sales, and execute a successful handoff to appropriate staff for service delivery. As a Director of Business Development, you lead by example and carry out Fresh Coast values daily, provide thought leadership, and innovate with an entrepreneurial spirit. Success in this role means effectively listening to customer needs, confidently engaging to connect with new potential clients, building trusted relationships, understanding the technical skills and scope of work needed to deliver client results, collaborating with the team for shared success, and scaling the business with passion to increase our impact. What You Will Be Doing Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Lead the proposal team in creating and submitting proposals Develop and maintain strong client relationships critical to driving long-term business growth Prospect and qualify prospects for interest in Fresh Coast services Manage the sales cycle: respond to inbound leads, generate new leads, hold discovery and pitch calls, develop and present proposals, negotiate and close deals Position us to win work with clients prior to RFPs being released Make go/no go decisions on RFPs and opportunities Conduct consultative selling, understanding client needs and providing tailored and technical solutions Collaborate with Fresh Coast Directors and technical staff to ensure alignment on project scopes and budget before proposal submission Achieve or exceed annual sales targets and KPIs Successfully handoff won work to the delivery team Represent Fresh Coast at industry conferences, association events and committees, webinars and other industry related activities Collaborate with marketing and products teams to align strategies and offerings Maintain up to date and accurate records in our CRM regarding client interaction and pipeline deals This is a full-time, exempt position located in or near a major airport. Candidate does not need to be proximal to a Cascade Energy/Fresh Coast office. Travel for this role is expected at 30%. Qualifications Applicants for this role are required to have: Master's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field is preferred; bachelor’s degree combined with relevant experience will also be considered. 10+ years of related consulting experience in Climate & Carbon, Sustainability, or Water & Nature services Proven track record of delivering technical expertise to clients, securing consultancy work, and scaling business units Prior experience in Climate & Carbon, Sustainability, and Water & Nature service areas A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills: Relationship builder Passion for the work we do Good communicator For candidates whose experience may not align perfectly with all these preferred skills but can see themselves adding value in this role, we encourage you to still apply. Compensation & Benefits Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. The compensation for this position is subject to the Cascade Energy Sales Incentive Plan which is designed to motivate and reward Sales employees for their contributions to Cascade Energy’s success and includes a base salary and a variable component based on individual performance.
