Responsibilities

AT BATH & NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL WE HAVE ONE OVERRIDING PURPOSE TO IMPROVE PEOPLE’S LIVES.

This might sound simple, but it brings together everything we do, from cleaning the streets to caring for our older people. It is the foundation for our strategy, and we will ensure that it drives our commitments, spending, and service delivery. From ancient cities to peaceful villages, we are dedicated to providing the best services possible to our 200,000 residents.

THE ROLE

We are dedicated to delivering great outcomes for children and young people. As our statutory Director of Children & Education, you will play a pivotal role in securing the best possible outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. You will oversee a range of specialist and targeted preventative services, including children’s social care, children’s centres, youth connect, youth offending service, and education inclusion. With responsibility for more than 520 brilliant and dedicated staff, you will lead our efforts to provide exceptional support and care.
Our recent focused inspection highlights our commitment to strengthening performance and our ambition for our young people. We are looking for someone with an exceptional track record of improving children’s lives and a shared commitment to driving up standards. You will put children and young people at the heart of everything you do.
If you are driven, passionate, and determined to make a tangible difference in improving young lives, join us on this journey.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS SUBJECT TO AN ENHANCED/BASIC DBS CHECK.

Safeguarding Statement: The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable groups and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of this commitment anyone working in a post with children or vulnerable groups will be expected to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with/without barred list checks.
