Description The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the daily clinical operation of the program in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and other non-clinical staff. The Director of Clinical Services will supervise, train, and be the source of accountability for the staff clinicians and interns directly. In addition, he/she works closely alongside the Director of Nursing, and operations departments to assure the clinical components of the facility are appropriately coordinated and meet all regulatory and patient care standards according to standards set forth by the state licensing and other accreditation agencies. The Director of Clinical Services serves as a member of the Leadership Team. AGE/PATIENT POPULATION(S) SERVED Age of Patient Population Served: Adolescent and Young Adult Males/Females Population Served: Persons meeting DSM 5 criteria for substance use disorders with or without co-occurring psychiatric illness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead, manage, and hold accountable the clinical team (therapists, family therapists, case management) to the execution of Clearfork Academy programs in accordance with the policies, procedures, and core processes of Clearfork Academy, and according to the standards set forth by any licensing or accreditation agencies. Responsible for working in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Director of Residential Services, and operations department of the facility in overseeing the management of the daily clinical operations of the facility while demonstrating ethical and professional conduct. Acts as a supervisor for all clinical documents when required. Provide professional and ethical therapy to individuals with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health diagnoses in treatment through group, individual counseling, family counseling, and education. Participates in recruitment, retention and training of clinical staff and interns/students, ensuring that every member of the clinical department is trained, evaluated, and held accountable for following compliance policies and procedures specific to their job duties and functions. Responsible for reviewing clinical operational data to ensure the quality and effectiveness of programming. Provide continual clinical training and education to ensure quality care is provided to all clients. Receive and review client and guardian complaints and address concerns to ensure resolution. Works in conjunction with the Compliance Officer to maintain accountability for the regular data collection, reporting, strategic planning and the design and implementation of clinical quality improvements and consistently seeks and implements methods to improve policies and processes. Collaborates with medical, utilization review, operations, and therapeutic staff regarding client care, treatment, and services through regular leadership of treatment team meetings and other meetings as necessary. Works with Business Development team to foster relationships with referral sources, attend conferences, and participate or lead continuing education events as needed. When appropriate, the Director of Clinical Services will manage a caseload, not to exceed 2 clients in order to facilitate organizational needs, and continually grow skill set. Leads weekly treatment team meetings, Clinical Team L10, as well as participate in weekly Leadership Team meetings (L10). Participate in developing, justifying, and managing the annual budget for department. Responsible for ensuring consistent delivery of Clinical Services to include the Clearfork Way format. Responsible for training members of the clinical team and residential services on regulatory, organizational specific, and therapeutic interventions. Performs other duties and tasks as required. AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (ADOLESCENT AND YOUNG ADULT MALES/FEMALES) Demonstrates ability to systematically collect, record and analyze data and other relevant interactive social systems, including mental status, special precautions (suicidality, homicidality, elopement); physical problems/medical acuity (withdrawal and nutritional needs); and ethnic concerns (social, religious, or cultural needs). Uses assessment data to identify problem list and other interactive social systems. Initiates/develops a treatment plan with specific goals and interventions unique to the needs of the patient. Intervenes as guided by the treatment plan to implement appropriate interventions that promote, maintain, or restore physical and mental health, prevent illness effect rehabilitation, and restore developmental progression in adulthood. Provides health teaching for adult/family through individual and group interactions. Recommends special precautions for clients, as needed. Evaluates the response of the adult/family to interventions in order to revise the plan, including discharge criteria. Demonstrates an understanding of developmental milestones of adolescents and young adults. Identifies trauma, abuse/neglect or exploitation client may have experienced. Requirements MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Education, Training, and Experience Required: Unrestricted licensure in Texas, to include Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). (required) Approved supervisor status by state professional licensing board. (preferred) At least two years of experience in the field of chemical dependency and/or behavioral health. (preferred) Current CPR/FA certification Current Handle with Care Physical Hold certification REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, financial analysis, budget process and planning, accreditation and regulatory standards, strategic planning principles, ability to assess clinical care requirements based on psychotherapeutic and human development principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards. Understanding of Addiction: Basic knowledge about substance use disorders Treatment knowledge: familiarity with behavior change and recovery models Application to practice: Methods for applying intervention and recovery knowledge to practice Professional readiness: Issues related to self-awareness, diversity, ethics, and continuing education Knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Accurately and timely enters clinical documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) software. Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands Reading and writing level that can clearly express or understand complex concepts, assessments, directions and processes or sequences of events - level equivalent to at least two years of college. Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility Working knowledge of (American Society of Addiction Medicine) ASAM criteria PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
