DIRECTOR OF COMMISSIONING

A rapidly expanding data center provider is seeking an accomplished Director of Commissioning to lead mission-critical commissioning efforts across a portfolio of colocation and hyperscale projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth company delivering cutting-edge infrastructure for some of the world’s leading cloud and enterprise clients.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of experience in commissioning, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in mission-critical environments, particularly data centers (colocation/hyperscale).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
  • Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Engineering degree preferred; CxA, PE, or LEED certifications a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering and Operations, the Director of Commissioning will oversee the full life cycle of commissioning activities across multiple data center builds. This includes managing internal teams, third-party Cx agents, and ensuring systems meet design, quality, and performance standards before handover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the commissioning program across colocation and hyperscale builds.
  • Develop, implement, and manage commissioning standards, protocols, and best practices.
  • Oversee and coordinate all phases of commissioning (Level 1-5) for MEP systems, BMS, EPMS, and critical infrastructure.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert, supporting preconstruction, design review, FATs, and integrated systems testing.
  • Manage third-party commissioning agents and interface with general contractors, vendors, and end-users.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure successful transition from construction to steady-state operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and post-project reviews.
