LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY - IMMEDIATE START

Canterbury College is a high-performing, award-winning Anglican ELC to 12 school, serving the dynamic growth corridor of Logan, northern Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim and southern Brisbane.
We pride ourselves on fostering excellence across academics, sport, the arts, and student wellbeing, within an inclusive and supportive culture. Our mission is to inspire and nurture confident, optimistic, and compassionate young people who are ready to make their mark on the world.
To support this vision, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Communications to lead our friendly and dynamic, on campus Communications team, in a full-time capacity.
You will be responsible for shaping and delivering outward-facing communications across multiple platforms, showcasing the College’s distinctive profile as one of Queensland’s leading independent schools. Your work will drive engagement and strengthen connections with prospective and current families, alumni, and the wider community.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a current Positive Notice Working With Children Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Degree / Diploma qualifications relevant to the position.
All Canterbury staff are expected to support the school’s Anglican ethos and values.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor competitor and industry media activity to inform Canterbury’s strategic positioning and develop a responsive advertising strategy that aligns with emerging trends and key priorities.
  • Work with the College’s digital marketing partner to continually refine and target the advertising/student recruitment messages relevant to current strategy and priorities.
  • Skilfully build key communications ‘narratives’ across multiple channels (ie academic achievement, all-roundedness, World Ready).
  • Build and maintain strong networks with alumni and past staff to enhance Canterbury’s reputation, overseeing alumni events, including reunions.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with local media and education journalists with major outlets.
  • Attend CAN Consultative Committee meetings as a representative of the College.
  • Oversee the ongoing curation, content updates, and user experience of the College website including social media presence, and written publications.
  • Take responsibility for the oversight and production of key public-facing, high-stakes publications each year.
  • Manage updates and refinements to College signage to ensure brand consistency, ensuring the principles laid out in the College visual identity and style guide are adhered to across the College and by external partners.
  • Foster a positive team culture amongst a small team of content producers, providing ongoing support, guidance, and professional development.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities and ensure deadlines are being met.
  • There will be some work required after hours, commensurate with the seniority of the position.
