Description This is a full-time, direct placement role at BME Services. Director of Construction Location: Burlington, KY Compensation: ~$130,000–$150,000 base salary, with potential for higher total compensation for the right candidate About Us BME Inc. is a leading full-service commercial/mechanical contractor with deep expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and piping, operating in the Midwest since 1979. We serve industrial and commercial clients, delivering design/build, installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance services. Our team prides itself on professional service, long-term relationships, and high-quality execution. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced, driven leader to take ownership of our construction division’s workflow and growth. The Division Manager will manage the full project lifecycle—from estimating through completion—for HVAC, electric, plumbing, controls, and piping projects. Typical project size ranges from approximately $20,000 to $300,000 (primarily replacement/retrofit work), with some projects reaching up to $1.5 million. The division also completes about 20 greenfield projects per year in partnership with general contractors. You will lead a team of roughly 20 installers and 3 Project Managers, and you’ll play a critical role in scaling the division as the company grows. This position is ideal for someone with 10–20 years of industry experience who is hungry to lead, build, and expand. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the end-to-end workflow of the construction division: estimating, planning, execution, close-out, and customer handover. Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and work quality for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and piping projects. Develop accurate estimates and proposals for jobs ranging from $20,000 to $300,000, with occasional projects up to $1.5 million. Manage relationships and coordination with general contractors on approximately 20 greenfield projects annually. Supervise a team of 20 installers and 3 Project Managers—establishing standards, coaching team members, and ensuring high performance. Drive continuous improvement through workflow optimization, cost reduction, efficiency enhancement, and best-practice implementation. Recruit, mentor, and develop field and office staff as the division grows. Partner with senior leadership to set strategic goals, track key performance metrics, and plan for divisional growth. Ensure all projects are executed safely, on schedule, within scope, and to the company’s quality standards. Serve as a customer-facing representative for the division, helping maintain strong relationships with clients, GCs, vendors, and internal departments. Why Join BME Inc.? Lead a growing division within a well-established and respected regional contractor. Significant autonomy and leadership responsibility. Opportunities to shape systems, build a team, and influence company-wide performance. Competitive compensation and room for expanded earnings for a high-performing leader. A diverse and interesting project mix across multiple mechanical and electrical disciplines. Requirements Qualifications 10–20 years of construction industry experience, ideally in mechanical or multi-discipline contracting (HVAC, plumbing, piping, electrical, controls). Strong history of successfully estimating and managing construction projects from $20,000 to $1.5 million. Experienced leader capable of managing field crews and project management staff. Solid financial and operational acumen, with the ability to project costs, manage budgets, and analyze profitability. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills for dealing with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and leadership. Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to grow and scale a division. Familiarity with construction contracts, scheduling tools, project management platforms, and change order processes. Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred but not required.
