Job Description This role supports the Electric Division- The Director of Construction is a trusted, steady, and field-focused leader responsible for driving excellence across all construction operations at Knobelsdorff. This role serves as the bridge between field execution and project management, coaching and supporting construction teams, partnering with the PMO Teams to ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of quality. You are the guide and steady hand for field leaders — helping them navigate complex installations, staffing challenges, schedule pressures, and customer expectations to deliver projects On Time, On Budget, and Exceed Customer Expectations. As the senior construction voice in the business, you will shape the processes, culture, and standards that allow KE to consistently deliver exceptional results for our clients as we continue to grow. What You Will Do Leadership, Coaching & Field Development Serve as a coach, mentor, and force-multiplier for Construction Managers, Foremen, and field leaders. Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational discipline on every jobsite. Provide level-headed guidance during complex field challenges, helping teams solve problems with clarity and confidence. Develop and Level-Up future leaders through hands-on coaching, career development discussions, and structured feedback to deliver Construction Excellence. Promote KE’s values and set the tone for professionalism, safety, and respect across all field operations. Project Delivery Excellence Work closely with the Director of Project Manager and their Project Management Team to ensure alignment between project planning and field execution. Support PMs and CMs in translating schedules, budgets, and plans into daily and weekly field action. Facilitate strong communication loops between field teams and PMs, ensuring risks, constraints, and impacts are identified early and addressed collaboratively. Help PMs and CM teams drive On Time, On Budget, and Customer Satisfaction on their projects through hands on reviews, support, and coaching. Participate in project kickoffs, milestone reviews, and post-project lessons learned to improve delivery consistency and quality. Field Operations Oversight Oversee all construction field operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. Conduct regular jobsite visits to support teams, monitor progress, and validate adherence to KE standards and model what good looks like in the field. Ensure daily huddles, coordination meetings, and lookaheads are being executed effectively across all projects. Champion proactive planning — labor forecasting, trade alignment, material readiness, and constraint management. Provide real-time guidance on staffing, productivity issues, and sequencing challenges. Safety, Quality & Compliance Leadership Model and enforce KE’s “Grounded in Safety” culture, ensuring teams operate with discipline and care. Drive best practices for QA/QC, code compliance, documentation, and inspection readiness. Ensure field teams maintain a clean, safe, and organized site that reflects KE professionalism. Partner with the Safety team to resolve incidents, remove hazards, and reinforce lessons learned. Operational Discipline & Performance Management Use data, KPIs, and field metrics to monitor project health, productivity, schedule performance, and labor efficiency. Identify patterns in field performance and collaborate with PMs and CMs to take corrective action. Lead the standardization and continuous improvement of construction processes, procedures, and toolsets. Drive consistency in use of lookaheads, planning tools, labor tracking, progress reporting, and documentation. Ensure escalation pathways are clear and used appropriately to prevent surprises in execution. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Estimating, Engineering, PMO, Procurement, and Preconstruction to ensure smooth project handoffs and coordinated execution. Work with PMs and engineers to validate constructability, sequencing, and field impacts early in the project lifecycle. Support Procurement with major material and equipment planning, especially for long-lead or complex systems. Align with Portfolio Leaders to ensure resource allocation meets business priorities. Client, Partner & Industry Relations Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients, general contractors, and key trade partners Represent KE as the senior construction authority in client meetings, jobsite reviews, and project discussions. Identify opportunities for additional work or expanded relationships through excellent execution and communication. Engage with industry events and regulatory bodies as needed to support KE’s market presence. Qualifications What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of field operations experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Deep experience leading construction field operations in complex industrial, electrical, or mission-critical environments. A natural coach with strong emotional intelligence and a calm, steady leadership presence. Strong partnership mindset — especially with PMs, engineering, and safety. Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects and teams. Strong understanding of project financials, including budgets, forecasts, and cost management. Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use data to make informed decisions and drive performance. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Knowledge of construction safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
