Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Director of Content Design to join our 40+ strong Product Design, User Research & Brand Design team reporting to our Design Director at Pleo. In this role, you’ll join forces with our current Senior Content Designer on a mission to build Content Design as a function at Pleo.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll work hands-on to build and scale a new high-performing Content Design function at Pleo from the ground up, ensuring that our UX content, messaging, and frameworks drive adoption, activation, and retention. Over time, we imagine you’ll lead a team of 4-5 content designers, establish content systems, and deliver clear, effective communication across Pleo’s global markets.
This role is not just about managing - it requires a strong UX content strategist who sets the vision, executes high-impact work, and builds content systems for scale. You’ll work in key product areas while defining the long-term role of content design at Pleo.
You must be comfortable in a fast-moving, scale-up environment, shaping your own role, solving immediate challenges, and structuring content design work for the future.

In the first 6 months, we imagine that you will work on:

  • Hiring at least 1 strong content designer, ensuring alignment with business and product needs.
  • Auditing our UX content, processes, and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and scalability
  • Contributing to high-impact UX content work, setting the standard for quality
  • Establishing a well-defined vision for the content design function that aligns with our overall strategy and includes measurable goals
  • Establishing team processes (critiques, workflows, documentation) to improve content quality and collaboration
  • Build working relationships with product design, user research, brand, marketing, localisation and beyond
  • Implementing a content testing framework, running several A/B experiments to inform content decisions

In the first 12 months, we imagine that you will work on:

  • Fully staffing the content design team with 4-5 designers, balancing expertise and impact.
  • Building scalable content systems, reducing reliance on ad-hoc content requests by X%.
  • Increasing activation and engagement metrics through well-executed content strategies.
  • Creating a content strategy that differentiates Pleo’s voice, reinforcing trust and engagement in fintech and expense management.
  • Aligning content strategy across Product, Marketing, and Brand, ensuring consistency.
  • Establishing clear prioritization frameworks, ensuring content design work is structured and focused on the highest-impact areas
