Description The Director of Contracts and Trade Compliance provides guidance and leadership to the Legal, Risk Management, Contracts, In-Bond Solutions, and Data Analytics teams with a focus on enriching the agent and customer experience as both parties engage with the Evans Network of Companies. This position is a subject matter expert related to transportation management decision making and process development with a focus on efficiency to resolve matters quickly and accurately. The Director of Contracts and Trade Compliance supports various other departments related to process improvement endeavors to drive productivity throughout the organization. Essential Job Duties Facilitate conflict resolution between corporate functions, agent operations, and customers Collaborate with Agents to best optimize engagement with corporate support functions Pursue ongoing customer development to ensure long-term success for Agent operations Negotiate ongoing transportation contracts with customer base as needed Maintain team engagement; manage time off schedules, ongoing training, and workloads Engage in long term corporate development initiatives related to internal process management, fraud and risk management mitigation, and ancillary processes as needed Engage in employee reviews and personal improvement plans Oversee contract negotiation and execution Vet Agent operations; double brokerage, compliance with industry norms, and/or applicable rights to take action Direct customer engagement related to conflict management or risk mitigation Direct In-bond Solutions team to support agents and the movement of in-bond shipments Oversee the proper reporting of in-bond shipment delivery import and/or export data as required by customs and border protection Respond to customs and border protection notices and fines Respond to ancillary legal requests as required by the Legal and/or Risk Management groups Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, logistics, or similar area; bonus if you have a Juris Doctor degree 5+ years of business experience in operations and risk management 2+ years of leadership experience Direct people management experience, including performance management, coaching, corrective action, and accountability for team outcomes Demonstrated experience owning the full commercial contract lifecycle, including intake, drafting, negotiation, execution, compliance monitoring, and amendments Experience making final contract risk decisions, including approving deviations from standard terms, balancing legal risk against operational and commercial needs, and escalating appropriately Hands-on experience making decisions that directly impact business operations, including process changes, compliance with internal protocols as well as state and/or Federal regulations, and productivity improvements Proven experience acting as the primary escalation point for contract, compliance, or regulatory issues involving customers, partners, or internal leadership Well versed with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Strong typing skills Ability to remain patient and calm under pressure Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills Top-notch customer service skills Collaborative team player and relationship builder Ability to anticipate and forecast future issues that stem from near-term decision making Skill to quickly pivot from one task to another and reprioritize throughout the day Accessible outside of standard working hours as needed Strong negotiation skills Occasional travel to support the Sales team as needed,
