Role Summary The Director of Culture is the primary driver of schoolwide culture, scholar experience, and community trust at Ethos Classical Charter School. This role owns scholar behavior systems, attendance, advisory, social-emotional supports, and family-facing culture responses, ensuring every scholar feels safe, known, and held to high expectations. Reporting to the Principal, the Director of Culture partners closely with academic and operational leaders to create a joyful, orderly, and values-aligned school environment that enables strong teaching and learning. This position would either serve Grades K-4 or Grades 5-7. Key Responsibilities Scholar Culture & Behavior Systems Own and lead the implementation of schoolwide culture systems aligned to Ethos values: Joy, Respect, Focus, and Determination. Establish clear behavior expectations, consequences, and restorative practices across all grade bands. Ensure consistent implementation of classroom routines, transitions, and common space expectations. Monitor behavior data and trends; develop proactive supports and targeted interventions. Attendance & Scholar Engagement Oversee attendance systems and tiered interventions in partnership with operations. Lead attendance reviews and family outreach related to chronic absenteeism. Track attendance data and collaborate with leadership to improve scholar engagement and persistence. Advisory & Social-Emotional Supports Design and oversee advisory systems that ensure every scholar is known, supported, and challenged. Support advisors with structures, guidance, and expectations for high-quality advisory implementation. Partner with counselors, SEL staff, and MTSS teams to coordinate scholar supports across grade levels. Family Communication & Partnership Serve as a key point of contact for families related to culture, behavior, attendance, and scholar support. Lead complex and sensitive family conversations with clarity, empathy, and firmness. Ensure family communication related to culture is timely, consistent, and aligned to school values. Team Leadership & Development Manage and develop culture-aligned staff. Coach staff on relationship-building, de-escalation, and consistent responses to scholar behavior. Model calm, professional leadership during moments of conflict or crisis. Compliance, Safety & Documentation Ensure all discipline, behavior, and intervention practices comply with state law, charter requirements, and board policy. Partner with operations to support safety drills, crisis response protocols, and campus supervision. Maintain accurate documentation related to incidents, interventions, and family communication. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in school leadership, dean of students, culture, or student support roles. Demonstrated success leading schoolwide culture or behavior systems. Strong data literacy related to behavior, attendance, and intervention tracking. Experience working across multiple grade levels. Strong alignment with Ethos Classical’s mission and commitment to joyful, structured school communities.
