Description

We are recruiting a Director of Data Center Energy for a high impact energy technology organization. Director of Data Center Energy Full-Time | Remote The Role On behalf of a high impact philanthropic foundation, we are seeking a Director to lead the effort to make solar-powered data centers the default for AI infrastructure. This role requires strategic vision combined with technical expertise and the ability to drive engagement across multiple stakeholder groups. The Director will be responsible for: - Establishing clear technical standards for solar-powered data center infrastructure - Driving engagement with labs, developers, and governments - Moving projects from concept to deployment - Building partnerships and coalitions to accelerate adoption - Providing thought leadership in the energy and AI sectors What Success Looks Like - Adoption of solar-powered data center standards across major AI labs - Multiple pilot projects launched and operational - Government and industry partnerships established - Clear technical frameworks and best practices documented - Measurable reduction in carbon footprint of AI infrastructure Responsibilities - Develop and refine technical standards for solar-powered data centers - Lead stakeholder engagement with labs, developers, and government agencies - Manage project development from concept through deployment - Build strategic partnerships to accelerate market adoption - Provide technical guidance and thought leadership - Monitor and report on adoption and impact metrics Who You Are - Deep expertise in energy systems, data center operations, or related technical domain - Strategic thinker with ability to translate vision into action - Strong technical background with demonstrated ability to establish standards - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - Track record of successfully managing complex, cross-stakeholder projects - Passion for sustainability and clean energy - Leadership experience in driving adoption of new technologies Required Experience - 10+ years in energy, data center, or infrastructure technology sectors - Experience developing technical standards or best practices - Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement across governments, industry, and technical teams - Project management experience bringing complex initiatives to deployment - Understanding of AI infrastructure and computing requirements Technical Background - Strong foundation in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or data center operations - Understanding of solar power systems and grid integration - Knowledge of AI infrastructure and computing requirements - Experience with technical standards development Location: Remote Hours: Full time Timeline: Immediate start preferred Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience Highly competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
