Description General Overview Working under the leadership of the VP of Development and Community Relations, the Director of Development and Community Relations will oversee internal aspects of the fundraising, marketing, and community relations efforts of Black Mountain Home in order to ensure the success of the Every Day Fund campaign (currently $1.85 million/year) and other fundraising initiatives. He/she will provide leadership to internal members of the development team, creating and optimizing departmental processes to provide excellent donor stewardship and retention, as well as to continue to increase contributed revenue. He/she will be responsible for Every Day Fund renewal and acquisition mailings, including two major direct mail appeals, emails, and printed materials. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum of five years of experience in professional fundraising environment, including supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred), including IRS guidelines and best practices for gift receipts, tracking, and reporting. Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to achieve results in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Schedule flexibility and ability to work occasional nights and weekends, including representing ministry at churches, businesses, civic organizations, and other.
