JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Development at RoadOne will play a critical role in supporting the Senior Director of Development in overseeing and advancing all development efforts within the organization. This position is responsible for managing software development projects, leading development teams, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the successful execution of technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software architecture, development methodologies, and enterprise solutions while demonstrating strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in C# and VB within the Visual Studio environment.
• Proficiency in SQL Server development, including database design and query optimization.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and enterprise application development.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and managing development sprints.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, manage multiple projects, and drive innovation.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced office environment (no remote options).
• Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
• Knowledge of the transportation and or trucking industry preferable

• Assist the Senior Director of Development in executing the strategic vision for software development.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance software applications.
• Lead and mentor a team of software developers, providing technical guidance and professional development.
• Drive innovation and implement best practices in software development, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business stakeholders, and operations, to align development projects with business needs.
• Manage development roadmaps, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to software architecture, scalability, and system dependencies.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards to maintain quality and performance.
• Foster an Agile/Scrum development environment and ensure continuous improvement in development processes.
• Evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing software applications.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for development projects and system architectures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and security best practices.
