DIRECTOR OF DIETARY SERVICES

Permanent Part Time (.8) 64 hours bi-weekly

We are seeking a compassionate, caring, and resident focused individual who has a passion for long term care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Nutrition
  • Completion of a Dietetic Internship
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists (NSCDN)
  • 2 years previous management experience
  • Previous experience in long term care an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to resident centered care
  • Excellent communication skills with residents, families and other team members
  • Ability and confidence to take a leadership role
  • Demonstrated competency with computers including internet, email and Microsoft office
  • Regular attendance in current and previous employment
    Rate: based on Department of Seniors/Long Term Care funding, with competitive benefits

Responsibilities

North Queens Nursing Home is a 44-bed Long Term Care Facility located in Caledonia, Nova Scotia. Caledonia is a rural community of Queens County, close to Kejimkujik National Park, and in close proximity to both the South Shore and Annapolis Valley. North Queens Nursing Home considers the needs of our residents as a whole, considering their social, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Dietary Services is a Registered Dietitian, and is responsible for the nutrition assessments of the residents and implementing nutrition care plans. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the Dietary Services, including scheduling, budgeting, menu planning and oversight of the day to day food service operations. The Director is an active member of an inter-disciplinary care team, as well as a member of the leadership team.
