Description Job Summary: The Director of Engineering and Maintenance is responsible to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations including the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety and security. The director of engineering and maintenance is responsible to understand and manage maintenance budgets, capital expenditure projects, and preventative maintenance programs. All responsibilities support the goal of enhancing and influencing the overall guest experience while maintaining compliance with company practice, cost projections and mission statements. Requirements Areas of Responsibility - Oversees the proper installation, repair, and maintenance of all hotel equipment, including but not limited to heating, air conditioning, ice machines, fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alarms, and plumbing. - Ensures swimming pool maintenance duties are preformed according to manufacturer specifications and local Health Department Regulations. - Coordinates, and monitors a preventative maintenance program to ensure the safety, security and comfort of staff and guests. - Maintains ICare2 Preventative Maintenance documentation. - Maintains work order assignment program, ALICE, for completed and pending work orders. - Educates and leads all department personnel on emergency procedures, key control, and safety. - Responsible to hire, train, develop, and hold accountable maintenance department personnel. - Leads, and coordinates, property safety committee. Develops and implements strategies and practices which support team member engagement - Recruits and selects qualified candidates, ensuring proper training is followed through in the Engineering Department - Communicates performance expectations and provides team members with on-going feedback - Provides team members with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach fullest potential. Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing team members with the training, and resources needed to maximize team member engagement, and deliver exceptional service, and teamwork. - Communicates and reinforces the vision for service to team members - Ensures all team members provide hospitality and respect to all guests and team members - Seeks opportunities to improve guest service, and guest experiences by seeking feedback, reviewing management reports, and through problem resolution Job Duties: - P&L Management: Understand how the P&L is prepared, and the line items within the engineering department, and how to impact each line. - Budget Management: Skill in developing and adhering to department budget - Payroll Control and Scheduling: Determine appropriate staffing levels based on forecasted revenue and anticipated business while optimizing profitability, guest service, and team member requests. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of four years’ experience in related professional positions. Experience in a hotel environment preferred. - Ability to read and understand Profit and Loss Statements, and Budgets. - Ability to communicate effectively with management team, guests and staff. - Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
