Role Overview We are seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to lead the operational backbone of our engineering organization. This leader will oversee engineering development and monitoring processes, ensuring program and project execution aligns with business goals. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who brings structure, transparency, and metrics to complex technical environments. This role will directly manage Technical Project Managers, Safety Engineering, and Certification teams, ensuring alignment and efficiency across all phases of engineering delivery. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Establish and refine engineering operations processes that improve predictability, quality, and throughput. Program Management: Oversee project and program execution across multiple engineering teams, ensuring milestones, budgets, and deliverables are met. Metrics & Reporting: Define, implement, and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and visibility tools that track engineering performance, velocity, and quality. Process Improvement: Introduce and evolve best practices for Agile and hybrid development methodologies across distributed teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Executive Leadership to align strategic priorities with execution. Governance & Compliance: Drive adherence to safety-critical and certification processes (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262, etc.), ensuring audit readiness and traceability. Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Technical Project Managers, Safety Engineers, and Certification Teams. Tooling & Infrastructure: Evaluate and optimize toolchains supporting project tracking, documentation, and reporting (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet). What You’ll Bring You are a results-driven operational leader who thrives on creating clarity from complexity. You have a passion for building scalable systems, aligning teams around measurable outcomes, and continuously improving the way engineering delivers impact. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 8+ years of experience in engineering operations, program management, or related technical leadership roles. Proven success leading complex, multi-program engineering efforts in software or embedded systems environments. Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and hybrid methodologies; experience driving process adoption across diverse teams. Strong data-driven mindset with experience establishing engineering performance metrics and reporting systems. PMP certification (or equivalent) preferred. Experience managing safety or certification engineering functions (DO-178C, ISO 26262, or similar) highly desirable.
