    Blakehurst is seeking a Director of Environmental Services to join our team! This hands-on leader is primarily responsible for the care and cleaning of all aspects of the physical plant; controlling the quality and timeliness of all work originating in the laundry; hiring, training and supervising all housekeeping and laundry personnel, procuring supplies, chemicals and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and operating within budgetary guidelines.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education required. Ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic. Special courses in housekeeping or institutional management are desirable.
  • Two years of housekeeping supervisory experience and/or one year as a Director of Housekeeping in an institutional or retirement facility. Certification is helpful but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of floor equipment, carpet care, chemical use and laundry equipment.
    All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, criminal background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility. Some of the roles in our community also require that we ask about your vaccination status.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervises the performance of all housekeeping personnel through personal
    inspections and other quality control techniques.
  2. Selects, trains, evaluates and disciplines all housekeeping personnel.
  3. Keeps required records, reports, studies.
  4. Inspects all housekeeping and laundry equipment regularly for proper functioning
    and safety.
  5. Coordinates apartment refurbishing with the Plant Services Director.
  6. Coordinates department functions with those of other departments.
    Other Duties :
  7. Participates in the research, preparation and writing of the department budget.
  8. Operates the Department within budget guidelines.
  9. Implements and monitors safety program of the department and all infection
    control policies and procedures.
  10. Orders necessary supplies, chemicals and equipment.
  11. Tests and evaluates new products to improve efficiency.
  12. Complies with all federal, state and local codes, laws and regulations governing the
    Community and the Community Health Center.
  13. Delegates authority to supervisory staff for task details to facilitate the smooth flow
    of materials and services.
  14. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  15. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
