We’re looking for an experienced Director Estimating to join our team. Position Summary: As the Director of Estimating, you’ll play a crucial role in leading our estimating department, nation-wide, for complex mechanical construction projects ranging from $10M to $100M in direct-hire construction. You will lead a team of experienced professionals, work jointly with operations managers, area managers, business development, and the virtual design group.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; May be waived in lieu of equivalent experience in mechanical process piping estimating.
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in construction estimating.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with estimating software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate closely with project and preconstruction teams.

Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation:


    • Lead and oversee team of estimators responsible developing accurate project estimates.

    • Identify client’s needs, preferences, and hot buttons to incorporate into bids.
    • Collaborate with appropriate leadership to review bids, determining appropriate cost and profit margins.
    • Ensure company safety standards, quality, and compliance programs are considered in estimation process.
    • Ensure all contract terms and conditions including commercial terms and craft labor terms are reflected in bids.
    • Benchmarking & Analysis:


      • Incorporate benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate detailed cost estimates.

      • Analyze project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service needs.
      • Track post-bid analysis and internal metrics to identify areas of strength and improvement to facilitate a best-in-class win rate.
      • Stakeholder Communication:


        • Communicate effectively with necessary stakeholders throughout the estimating process.

        • Consult with project teams on complex scopes of work and change orders.
        • Workflow Management:


          • Develop and implement a workflow and system for scheduling and processing estimate requests, company-wide.

          • Develop scope and responsibility breakdowns and assign team members to successfully execute bids and manage workloads involving multiple bids at any given time.
          • Team Leadership:


            • Lead estimating department, motivating team members, and foster a positive work environment.

            • Manage employee development process, fostering a culture of continuous improvement & excellence, aligning with BMWC’s core value of “People”.
