We are seeking an experienced Director of Facilities who will be based in our headquarters in downtown Baton Rouge. In this exciting role, the Director will lead the strategic planning and oversight of our firm-wide facilities and office support operations. This important leadership role is responsible for ensuring that our offices across Louisiana and Texas operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with the Firm’s professional standards and long-term goals. The Director will oversee almost 200,000 square feet of office space across our regional footprint. The Facilities Director sets and executes long-term strategic objectives in the following areas: Leases and Lease Negotiation: Works closely with the management team, the Firm’s Facilities Committee, and Office Administrative Partners on lease negotiations, lease extensions, new leases, and other contractual aspects of the Firm’s office locations. Space planning and management: Works with the management team and outside design vendors and leads renovations, and reconfigurations to optimize space for lawyers and staff. Vendor and contract management: Negotiates and oversees contracts with external vendors for cleaning, supplies, electrical/HVAC, appliances, security, maintenance, and other services. Building operations and maintenance: Ensures the maintenance, repair, and aesthetic appeal of all office locations is continuously meets Firm standards. Budgeting: Working closely with the Firm’s CFO and Director of Accounting, develops and manages the department's multi-million-dollar budget, works continuously to help control expenses for parking, furniture, construction, repairs, and other operational costs that relate to the facilities. Supervision: Hires, trains, and manages the facilities and office services staff in all office locations. Safety and security: Coordinates with building management, security, and outside vendors to always maintain secure and safe facilities, including during incidents and weather emergencies. Business continuity: Assists the management team to ensure continuity of operations during and after an emergency, including coordination with outside vendors. Project management: Working with the Firm’s Project Management Director and PMO, oversees all new construction and renovation projects, office moves and ensures projects stay on schedule and within budget. Strategy: Works with the management team on strategic space utilization and long-term real estate planning across all offices. Copy Center Operations: Works collaboratively with Copy Center managers in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Houston and office administrative personnel in all office locations. Trial Support: Works closely with trial teams and facilities coordinators to support the Firm’s attorneys and staff when in trial and in remote locations, including coordination of lodging, war rooms, office equipment, catering, trial exhibits, trial supplies, and more. Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities or operations leadership. Proven success managing multi-site office environments, preferably in professional services environment. Keen eye for detail and design; ability to blend aesthetics with functionality. Strong product and furnishing knowledge. Strong project management, budgeting, and negotiation skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities across all levels of the organization. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Position Requirements: Office location – Downtown Baton Rouge. In office position. Ability to travel to all Kean Miller offices regularly. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends (as needed basis).
