Description Our Lady of Good Counsel in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking to fill a position that integrates two distinct areas of responsibility into one role. The first area is Director of Faith Formation, responsible for the strategic development, oversight, and implementation of all parish sacramental preparation programs, OCIA, and adult faith formation initiatives. The second area is Executive Assistant to the Pastor, serving as a trusted partner and strategic support to the parish priest. This portion of the role ensures the pastor’s time and attention remain focused on his primary responsibilities of prayer, preaching, and pastoral care. The position requires executive-level administrative skills combined with pastoral sensitivity, including managing the pastor’s schedule, communications, and projects with accuracy, discretion, and a spirit of service. This is a full time position, averaging 40 hours per week. Essential Duties Director of Faith Formation Work with the pastor and key staff to develop a strategic plan for all parish faith formation, evangelization, and discipleship initiatives. Set clear goals, align programs with the parish mission and ensure an integrated approach to lifelong formation. Oversee the day-to-day operations of all sacramental preparation programs, OCIA, and other adult formation opportunities, while continually looking to improve and streamline each program. Manage program logistics. Coordinate and train volunteers and catechists and ensure adherence to diocesan guidelines. Continuously assess each program for effectiveness, accessibility and spiritual impact. Executive Assistant to the Pastor: Work directly with the priest to coordinate and execute all aspects of parish and personal operations. Maintain and manage the priest's complex calendar, including recurring meetings, parish events, and personal appointments. Anticipate needs and priorities, helping to shape the priest’s schedule and workload with strategic foresight. Represent the priest in communications, scheduling, and select meetings — exercising mature judgment and professionalism. Draft, edit, and manage correspondence, reports, and pastoral communications on behalf of the priest. Coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, liturgical events, and major parish projects. Run or support regular staff and ministry meetings by preparing agendas, tracking follow-ups, and ensuring smooth execution. Assist in personal administrative tasks such as personal mailings, appointments, errands, and purchasing. Requirements Ability to strategize high-level creative solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to capture and convey the priest’s voice. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Maintain confidentiality in all matters — handling sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Professional judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence in handling sensitive pastoral matters. Proactive and solution-oriented — anticipates needs before they arise. Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities. Trustworthy, loyal, and responsive, with a servant-leadership mindset. Qualifications Prior experience supporting an executive, senior leader, or priest in a fast-paced environment. Strong proficiency with office and communication tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, sharedcalendars, etc.). Background in project management, administration, or ministry coordination a plus. At least 3 years’ experience in a parish or other Catholic ministry/apostolate. Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church. Consistent personal prayer life and an evident love for Jesus and the Catholic Church. Available at least one weeknight per week, with additional evening availability on a very occasional basis.
