Job Title: Director of Field Operations Company: National Builder Group, LLC Department: Operations Reports to: Chief Operations Officer Job Type: Regular Full-Time Work Hours: Monday - Friday Effective Date: September 2025 Exemption Status: Salary Exempt Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 Profit Sharing: Company Profit Sharing is available and varies based on business results Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance Life/Accidental Death Insurance/Short-Term Disability Paid Time Off (PTO) 401K Investment with 6% company match Role Summary: The Field Operations Manager is an experienced homebuilding professional responsible for supporting National Builder Group’s Owner-Operators in achieving operational excellence and high-performance KPIs. This role combines coaching, process oversight, and hands-on operational evaluation to help owner-operated companies deliver quality homes, maintain profitability, and consistently exceed customer expectations. The Field Operations Manager will travel to owner-operated companies to assess operations, identify improvement opportunities, mentor leadership, and support the onboarding of new partners. The role requires credibility on job sites and in offices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence operational best practices while balancing entrepreneurial freedom for Owner-Operators. Supervisory Responsibilities: None (Individual Contributor Role); Mentors and Guides others Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities: Coaches and supports Owner-Operators to follow the National Builder Group philosophy and methodologies of operating a profitable homebuilding company Monitors operational performance using quantitative and qualitative KPIs; identifies areas for improvement and guides partners in implementing changes Evaluates production schedules, construction quality, budgets, and purchasing practices to improve efficiency and profitability Supports new Owner-Operators with onboarding, training, and adoption of company policies, procedures, and best practices Conducts regular site visits to inspect quality, ensure compliance with product specifications, and reinforce safety standards Provides guidance on lot acquisition, proforma development, and project feasibility alongside Managing Partners Serves as a mentor and advisor to Owner-Operators, offering strategic guidance, problem-solving support, and practical solutions to operational challenges Promotes a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high customer satisfaction, aiming for 90%+ Willingness to Refer (WTR) scores Collaborates with COO and CEO to monitor and evaluate company performance, including forecasting, reporting, and strategic planning Builds strong relationships with Owner-Operators, trade partners, and internal teams to foster collaboration, trust, and alignment with NBG’s mission: Making Life Better Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational goals Minimum & Preferred Required Education/Credentials/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Education: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, or related field Minimum: Equivalent hands-on experience as a Construction Superintendent, Project Manager, or Purchasing professional is encouraged Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Preferred: 10+ years of experience in homebuilding operations, construction, purchasing, or project management; production building experience Hands-on knowledge of homebuilding practices, construction code, quality inspection, estimating, and supply chain management Experience coaching, mentoring, and training teams or partner companies Strong understanding of trade partnerships and national purchasing programs Familiarity with construction management software (e.g. BuilderTrend, JobTread) or ability to learn the functionality at a level to teach and support the Owner-Operators Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities Ability to lead effectively on job sites, at partner offices, and in formal meetings or training sessions Professionalism, integrity, and ability to build trust with partners, employees, and external stakeholders Initiative and independently driven to identify challenges and problems, and the ability to stop the practices or operations prior to compounding effects Core Values: Integrity & Respect – treats others with dignity and professionalism Empathy & Communication – listens, mentors, and delivers clear guidance Accountability & Initiative – drives results, identifies opportunities, and follows through Adaptability & Problem Solving – develops creative, win-win solutions Customer Focus – strives for excellence in quality and satisfaction Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Work Environment: Frequent on-site visits requiring PPE (hard hat, boots, etc.) in all weather conditions, Office and job-site work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment Must maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces; lift up to 25 pounds at times An Equal Opportunity Employer
