OVERVIEW

Join a dynamic and entrepreneurial team at a boutique, F&B-forward hotel property with a start-up energy and luxury brand backing. We are seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Director of Finance with extensive hospitality industry experience to help stabilize, optimize, and lead the financial operations of a 36-room hotel as it transitions from its opening phase into long-term performance and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA designation is mandatory
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in hotel finance, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role such as Director of Finance or very strong Assistant Director of Finance
  • Proven ability to lead in an environment with minimal existing infrastructure
  • Previous experience working in hospitality and hotel operations is non-negotiable
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort with ambiguity and change
  • Strong communication, leadership, and business partnership skills
  • Experience in F&B-heavy environments is a strong asset
  • Willingness to relocate from another province (relocation assistance provided)
Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as the senior-most finance leader on property, reporting directly to the General Manager.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting activities.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Finance and ownership on reporting and strategic initiatives.
  • Operational Finance Management
  • Oversee all accounting functions including AP, payroll (via Accounting Manager), and financial controls.
  • Develop and implement robust financial processes, controls, and systems tailored to a lean, agile hospitality environment.
  • Provide hands-on support in day-to-day accounting tasks as needed—this is not a desk-only role.
  • Team Management & Development
  • Manage and mentor the Accounting Manager and AP Clerk.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within a young team.
  • Systems Optimization & Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve existing systems and workflows.
  • Establish procedures and best practices where few may currently exist.
  • Drive tech and tool adoption with an entrepreneurial mindset.
