This role is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions of the organization, ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), maintaining internal controls & financial policies, and preparing financial statements, reports, and analyses.  This position reports to the Chief Finance Officer. Family Promise of West Michigan Core Values: * *  Has Passion for Mission * Prioritizes Accessibility, Belonging and Community * Is Dedicated to Hospitality * Collaborates Intentionally * Is Hungry, Humble, and Smart * Assumes Good Intent * Strives for Excellence and Sustained Impact Our Ideal Candidate will get to: * * Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, consolidations, and audit preparation. * Serve as the organization’s Sage Intacct accounting software specialist, ensuring accurate configuration, optimization, and ongoing staff support to maintain data integrity and efficiency. * Review and approve all transactions within Sage Intacct to ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP standards. * Oversee the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. * Prepare comprehensive monthly financial packets for the CFO’s review, including statements, key metrics, variance analysis, and cash flow summaries. * Provide the Finance Committee with monthly financial reports and present financial results during committee meetings. * Develop, document, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure fiscal accountability and compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and organizational policies. * Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the annual organizational budget, including departmental and program-level tracking. Monitor and report on budget-to-actual performance across departments and programs, proactively identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. * Manage organizational cash flow, liquidity, and financial forecasting to ensure sustainable operations and informed decision-making. * Oversee tax filings and compliance functions, including 1099 reporting, workers’ compensation audits, and maintenance of vendor documentation within Sage Intacct. * Perform other duties as assigned. Our Ideal Candidate will have: * * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree or CPA license preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of accounting and supervisory experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization. * Proficient in Sage Intacct or comparable accounting software; experience serving as a system administrator or subject matter expert is a plus. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling. * Exceptional organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to non-financial audiences. * Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. * Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners. * Committed to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion. * Comfortable working within a faith-based organization.
