KEY SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:

• Accounting Expertise: Deep knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit/pubic sector financial reporting. Strong technical skills across the full accounting cycle, with a track record of managing accurate and timely reporting.
• Analytical Thinking: High attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and communicate insights that drive sound decision-making.
• Internal Controls & Audit Preparedness: experience designing and enforcing financial controls, and leading successful audits.
• Clear Communication: Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders, including school leaders and external partners.
• Systems-Builder: Experience and relentless commitment to building, monitoring, and maintaining systems to realize efficiency and prepare the organization to scale.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate ability to proactively identify financial risks or inefficiencies and implement solutions that align with organizational goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7-10 years of professional experience
• 4-6 years of accounting experience
• 2+ years of experience in team or department management
• Experience in developing systems that achieve efficiency and scalability; can lead large scale workstreams
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly when communicating with senior leaders
• Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through; a high sense of urgency
• Outstanding problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and ability to use data to drive decision-making
• Ability to multi-task and lead multiple high-priority projects and deadlines at once
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
