Job Summary: The Director of Finance partners with leadership in developing financial analysis and reporting that supports effective planning and performance evaluation of the Operations Teams. Through a defined team, the Director will ensure financial oversight and accountability across operational initiatives. This role is responsible for formulating financial reports to provide guidance on operational decisions and to improve overall P&L health of the Operations Teams. In running and reviewing P&Ls, this role will work closely with applicable departments and Directors to identify budget issues and ensure timely corrective action. The Director of Finance will collaborate with the executive leadership team and operational leaders to support strategic financial decision-making and promote financial performance across the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides financial guidance and oversight to the front-line management team, supporting operations managers in financial performance and decision-making Oversees the quarterly close process, ensuring the accurate compilation of P&L information and development of variance analysis comparing projections to planned results Oversees weekly and monthly analysis of travel, labor, and overhead cost spend and productivity, including identification of underperforming team members and locations Leads root cause analysis of revenue, operating costs, and projected performance Ensures the completeness and integrity of all financial reports and that internal control requirements are met Develops and executes continuous improvement initiatives for the department that align with the overall company vision and support organizational growth Recommends strategic continuous improvement opportunities in collaboration with other departments and shares insights with the executive team Trains and supports operations managers in leveraging financial reporting systems to optimize portfolio financial performance Interprets financial reports and leverages insights to recommend corrective actions where possible; escalates material concerns to the executive team as needed Oversees the monthly projection process by supporting operations managers and analyzing financial trends Oversees overtime reporting and communicates immediate needs for budget adjustments, escalating through appropriate channels and ensuring follow-through to resolution Supports coordination of the field spending planning process, including setting targets and analyzing monthly spending by individual and portfolio; contributes to internal budget presentations Provides oversight of accounts receivable collections, inventory management, and capital expenditure controls Anticipates organizational financial reporting needs and provides recommendations to the Executive Team based on trends, risks, and opportunities; updates and presents the Company Scorecard Supports internal audit processes and government audits as needed Monitors and reports on modifications to company policies and procedures and contributes to the development of new policies and procedures as the business scales Oversees the development of ad hoc financial reports and analysis for senior management Ensures the availability and integrity of historical, current, and forward-looking financial and statistical data Performs special projects and financial analyses as requested by senior management Leverages existing technology to track, share, and maintain important financial and operational data Serves as a steward of Company assets, including travel and other routine business expenses Understands, complies with, and promotes adherence to Interstate’s policies and procedures Additional duties as defined Please note, the summary job specification is not a comprehensive definition of the post. Requirements Qualifications: 8+ years of finance-related experience, including at least 2 years preparing and presenting financial information Proven ability to organize, interpret, and model data, and to communicate actionable insights and recommendations Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated success in overseeing P&L in prior roles, contributing to the growth and financial health of a portfolio or operational area Strategic business planning and reporting experience Demonstrated ability to develop strong business relationships across all levels of an organization Experience with project management in support of operational initiatives Ability to drive results in a matrix environment through collaboration and consultation Skilled at managing through ambiguity and solving complex problems Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate team members without formal authority Experience implementing process improvements and success metrics to deliver increased organizational efficiency A team player who can inspire and communicate organizational value propositions to internal stakeholders Strategic thinker capable of developing a clear financial strategy for operational cost-savings opportunities and translating it into measurable goals Strong familiarity with organizations whose workforce is primarily comprised of hourly associates Experience supporting both office and field teams Candidate must have reliable transportation, be legally authorized to work in the United States, and be willing to submit to a background check.
