QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required
Experience: 7-10 years of financial management experience, preferably in the non-profit or charitable sector
Knowledge: Familiarity with CRA regulations for charities, GAAP standards, and donor compliance requirements an asset

Demonstrated strength in effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to simplify financial data to provide insights and recommendations

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

Islamic Relief Canada is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance to lead and enhance our financial operations. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, planning, compliance, and process improvement. The Director of Finance will be critical in ensuring financial health and regulatory compliance, enabling cross-departmental collaboration, and driving continuous process improvement across our financial practices to support IRC’s mission.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial management, regulatory compliance, and a passion for humanitarian work. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enhancing financial accountability and driving process efficiencies to support Islamic Relief’s mission.
