Position: Director of Finance
Closing:Posting will remain opened until filled
Term: Full Time (35 hours per week)
Starting Salary Range: $113,040- $129,880

We are currently seeking a Director of Finance , to be located in any of the following locations: Sault Ste. Marie (preferred), North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Dryden, Hamilton, Peterborough, Toronto or Ottawa.
Reporting to, and working in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, the successful applicant will be an integral member of the Finance team, responsible for, but not limited to, analyzing and interpreting financial and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. This position will develop and control the annual budget and long-term financial plans. This role will also administer the organization’s funds according to the approved budget, and monitor its financial expenditures. The Director of Finance must possess a CPA (preferred) or an advanced degree in business, finance, accounting, or an industry-appropriate field and ten years of progressively more senior management experience. The successful candidate will be a goal-oriented, organized, enthusiastic individual who understands and appreciates how safe, affordable housing contributes to the quality of life and serves as a stable foundation.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

·Lead and direct the Finance department staff (approximately 3 direct reports with a total staff of six);

  • Collaborates effectively with OAHS employees throughout the organization;
  • Interact and engage with personal performing finance related functions in other departments;
  • Work with the accounting staff to ensure all accounting, cash management and financial reporting activities are completed on an accurate and timely basis;
  • Lead and execute the monthly close process and internal performance reporting including variance analysis and reporting;
  • Lead and execute quarterly close process and external reporting, including variance analysis and reporting;
  • Develop and manage the Finance department operating metrics, with an emphasis on increasing speed and efficiency;
  • Determine requirements for enhancements to the OAHS ERP solution (Arcori) and ensures finance priorities are balanced with operational priorities;
  • Continues to enhance and develop company-wide management reporting, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of the Board, the CEO, CFO, and fellow Directors;
  • Strong knowledge of leading finance process practices:

o Procure to Pay
o Order to Collection

o Record to Report

  • Development of strong processes and reporting/analysis mechanisms for construction projects;
  • In conjunction with the CFO, lead the development of annual budgets – operating, capital and cash;
  • In conjunction with the CFO, lead the development of three- to five year forecast;
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly variance analyses against budget and forecasts for all OAHS divisions;
  • Support the preparation of lender reporting packages;
  • Support the preparation of financial analyses of potential acquisitions;
  • Prepares regular company metrics and special reports for the CEO and management;
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures (SOPs) and systems to ensure control integrality and operational efficiency;
  • Support external auditors as required;
  • Communicates with and meets partners and lenders on an as required basis;
  • Keep up to date with accounting changes and industry developments;
  • Attend internal meetings and staff meetings;
  • Support the Board of Directors with understanding reporting where required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS ROLE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

·Appreciation for Indigenous cultures and a values system that believes in assisting people
·Must have strong computer and communication skills;
·Bachelors Degree majoring in accounting or other related discipline or an MBA;
·Professional accounting designation CPA, in good standing;
·Commitment to maintaining designation;
·At least 10 years of progressive financial management roles, ideally in the property management, construction and/or development industries. Not for profit accounting experience will be an asset;
·Excellent organization skills and attention to detail;
·Excellent IT experience and knowledge including ERP, analytical software, Excel, and Microsoft suite of solutions;
·Strong Analytical and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask;
·Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
·Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information;
·Experience in not-for-profit organizations and
·Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in teams.
